In the process of finishing up the tally stuff, seeing what and who makes it into the the voting round. Making cuts based on the numbers. Some catagories have autowinners, so they wont apear in the voting round. expect the voting thread sometime tomorrow or maybe tonight if I have the time

Seen the voting topic, it seems I've been nominated for a number of "varied" awards. I think the results of those nominations will turn out to be incongruously amusing, if I end up winning enough categories that is. Nevertheless, I guess I was bound to generate my deal of butthurts around the forums with my "outlandish" views and alleged obstinacy. Another thing that stood out after I skimmed through Dave's OP is the large number of nominees for some categories. That's kind of odd since in the past we used to have 2-3 nominees per category max. There are however a number of categories with perfect-match nominees don't get me wrong (worst debater anyone?).

No matter what the results of the voting process turn out to be, I promise fans and foes alike that I shall remain the voice of what is fine and refined and that I won't be dropping the torch any time soon. The depraved and illiberal will not roam the forums free; some shall be saved and the irremediable ones shall be put to sleep. Of course that all depends on whether I'll continue having power/internet access in the foreseeable future which frankly doesn't look too bright rofl

Who else would that bozo be. Anyway I will go with that as I make my nominations for the categories hopefully that'll be accepted?

If catagories didn't have someone like 3+ ahead of the least nominated person , I tended to keep all those nominees. Sometimes I made further cuts if it was too unwieldy. Like the who should post more had so many names, so deleted the single nominated ones.

You're the last person in these forums I expected to use "irregardless".

It is admittedly redundant but nevertheless correct.

Unless you count the prefix ir- as a negative, in which case it would be something like "not regardless" =)

There's an entry of it in the dictionary so while syntactically redundant it has been semantically adopted while remaining objectionable. In addition, the duplication of negation is interpreted as a redundancy rather than voiding the negation. From thefreedictionary.com: "Many critics have complained that it is a redundancy, the negative prefix ir-duplicating the negativity of the -less suffix."
Furthermore, and just as I expected, it is not the result of prefixing with "ir" and suffixing with "less" which would invalidate the negation, but instead it is a colloquial coalescing of regardless and irrespective: "The word was coined in the United States in the early 1900s, presumably from a blend of irrespective and regardless."

Few understand what we have to go through :(

@GazaAli: There's also an entry in the dictionary that states "literally" can mean "figuratively", but I still wouldn't use it for that effect. I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with you using it, but I never took you for the kind of guy to use words that are, at best, redundant and at worst confusing. It was just an observation, think nothing of it.

Well I'm not particularly condoning it myself, just pointing out that it is not fallacious but rather redundant if one is being exceptionally scrupulous.

For Funniest user I kept those who were two away from the most nominated person. The rest had single noms.

For best American user, those two were far ahead of the others.

kept all of coach potato noms. Those guys all had one or two noms

Well the Best Mexican user is not listed so I'm automatically going to assume that I'm the clear winner hence why it's not listed there.
