Which is better?
I've played both but I am torn to decide which is better.
So, what do you guys think?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I personally think Super Mario Galaxy is better. A true masterpiece.
This is personal opinion, but I don't think Twilight Princess is a masterpiece.
It is indeed a great game, but for a Zelda, it felt a bit lacking. (This also
may be due to my personal infatuation with Zelda and thus the high expectation)
But in the end, I really don't think you should be 'torn' in deciding which is better;
if you like 'em both, so be it! There's nothing wrong with that.
Art is something that can never properly be ranked;
the scores are just relative references, nothing more.
Twilight Princess, for me, was an absolutly astounding experience. Yet as much as I enjoyed that game I think I like Super Mario Galaxy even more. Both games are AT LEAST in my all-time top ten, possibly top five games though.
I would like to add that while tons of people like me loved TP, thier were plenty of slightly dissapointed fans and even some haters. But Galaxy pleased almost everyone. So as far as pleasing the most people galaxy wins. And that is one post on this thread that people can't argue with.
then there's no debate. now quick, choose one.I would like to add that while tons of people like me loved TP, thier were plenty of slightly dissapointed fans and even some haters. I agree 100%
(saying that Galaxy was more of a crowd pleaser)
Though i love galaxy, Zelda was the basis for me getting a wii. Iw oudl have to say twilight princess better it was longer then Galaxy and (even know mario never does have a very good one) The storyline in Zelda was alot more thrilling and complex and held my attention and left me guessing
Im going with Twilight Princess
What Nintendo did to Super Mario Galaxy is truly AMAZING!!THEY MADE ME LOVE MARIO MORE THAN EVER BEFORE, from the Graphics, Game-play, and MUSIC, everything in it is FANTASTIC!!! :D
But still i'm a BIG fan of the Zelda games, I bought the two versions of TP for GC and Wii, TP is still a good, but not that good :P
Twilight Princess is still the only Zelda game I haven't finished (it's so boring).
Galaxy is too fun and innovative to not be called a masterpiece!
What debate? Twilight Princess was disappointing and Super Mario Galaxy is the best game of this generation so far.
Probably Galaxy for me. If the game was harder, I wouldn't have to say "probably", though..Litchie
Too much stock is put on difficulty, not that TP was difficult, but unless it's ridiculousy difficult (like Battletoads or Mega Man 9) it really means nothing to me in the overall game experience.
btw Galaxy is my pick.
Galaxy was better IMO.
I have been a follower of the Zelda franchise since the first titles for the NES and have played every chapter in the series not including the CDI games.
Having followed Mario just as zealously, I feel that Galaxy did the most to improve and evolve the series coming off of the crappy misstep that was Sunshine.
Now i know this will anger the "Zelda community" but the Twilight Princess attempted to give gamers what they wanted a little too late. As the first "real" Zelda title (not including the portable titles) to come out after the Wind Waker, Twilight Princess marked the return of mature Link for the first time in eight years The game included the largest number of dudgeon's of any Zelda game since OOT. This was important to many fans seeing that Wind Waker only had 6 temples (including Gannon) in the entire **** game before it sent you on a pointless quest for eight triforce shards in a sailboat (cringes at the bad memories)!
However, surprisingly many fans grew nostalgic of the Wind Waker ****of zelda somewhat splitting fans of the series in to two camps (the realist vs. the artistic). The Phantom Hourglass in my opinion did more for zelda fans that craved a Wind Waker **** game then TP did to appease to fans that wanted to experience OOT all over again.
Both are good games but Galaxy is just in a different league then TP.
I don't think it's fair to put an old Gamecube game against a second generation Wii game.Jaysonguy
Very well put. I agree with the above statement.

While I agree with this too, it is fair to compare the effort and creativeness put into the two games...in which galaxy wins easily

You really can't though
Mario Galaxy had all new hardware to work with.
Zelda had the older hardware to work with.
The team that made Zelda had none of the advantages that Galaxy's team had. Zelda's team could have thought up a lot better things but they were handcuffed by 2001 technology.

true... but wind waker was a very creative entry in the series while TP was not. The TP team could have done something to the game to make it more innovative and make it stand out from the other zelda games.
Wait, you can debate about this?
Sorry but to me, Galaxy is way way beter then Twilight Princess, and most if not all the other wii games.
Not to say that Twilight Princess is a bad game, it is great and I am a zelda fan too.
Don't flame me guys, its called my opinion.

yeah, but it was the fans themselves that asked for a traditional zelda.have you seen any flaming around here? :|Wait, you can debate about this?

In my totally subjective and useless opinion, I enjoyed Twilight Princess more.GabuEx
Same here. Galaxy was a masterpiece, but for me it just doesn't beat a good romp through Hyrule with my favorite swordsman.

yeah, but it was the fans themselves that asked for a traditional zelda.Well then i guess the fans made a mistake as well as nintendo for listening to them. I'm not saying TP was bad, but it was nowhere near as good as the other 3d console zeldas.
What debate? Twilight Princess was disappointing and Super Mario Galaxy is the best game of this generation so far.

No way Twilight Princess was disappointing, the game I think was just as good as OoT.

If I had a guess, it would be that the lack of originality he was hoping for as opposed to nostalgia. Unlike OoT, TP was flawed in a couple areas.
Don't get me wrong though TP was a superb game and imo one of the best for wii.
Mario Galaxy gets this round. There really wasn't any flaws to it other than the camera. It reinvented the 3d platformer and was the first platformer to use gravity effects. wiifan001
Psychonauts
look it up
Psychonauts was one of the best platformersi've played.
And the idea that galaxy "played" with gravity is laughable. Yeah maybe at some parts you'd have to use the remote to sling yourself to another grapple point. However, that's not really playing with gravity. The strength of the new Mario is based upon solid level design and tasks that frustrate you to the point you want to break your wiimote. Now Space Zone in Super Mario: Six Golden Coins, that's **** with gravity!
