Mine: Contra: Shattered Soldier- I don't see any game being as hard as this one. What's your picks?

There's a trick with Shin Contra (aka Shattered Soldier) you know. The trick is that the game never really changes, and the enemy patterns will always remain the same, so it's a matter of knowing where to stand and shoot. Instead of trying your luck playing by refliexes, try to memorize the game stage by stage and boss by boss, because once you know what to do, you will be able to do it all the time and you won't lose anymore.
I can beat that game without losing a sigle life.
As for my most difficult game, that'd be Gradius III (Arcade).
Ninja Gaiden on Xbox was insane on the harder modes.

I'd also have to go for Ninja Gaiden the game was insane.
[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]Super Ghouls and Ghosts is easily the most difficult game of all time. Nothing comes close.Oakfront
Isn't that the one where when you finally beat it, you have to do it all over again?
Yes, but just beating it once is near impossible.[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]Super Ghouls and Ghosts is easily the most difficult game of all time. Nothing comes close.Oakfront

yea its even like that with ghouls n ghosts on the genesis/mega drive but that version is quite easy unlike the arcade versionNot even close to the hardest game ever made. I honestly dont understand how anyone could possibly say its on the same level of difficulty of the majority of games 16 bit and before. If it was that hard I wouldnt have been able to beat it, let alone on the very hard difficulty setting. It's as simple as that. I'm not saying its not a difficult game, its just not on the same level of difficulty as hundreds of other games.I Wanna Be The Guy!

On this subject, I think I wanna be the guy is one of the greatest games of all time and is something everybody should experience.
Yeah Megaman is the hardest for me. I suck at platforming games.Probably the classic Megaman games. I've always loved them, but just sucked big time at them

Yes, but just beating it once is near impossible. I was able to get through the first playthrough, at least I was with the edition I played where continues weren't that hard to get (don't know if other editions are the same or not, but I probably wouldn't have gotten far otherwise). The sucky part is the second time through where it forces you to beat the game with a particular weapon. The weapon seldom drops and is a terrible weapon. I couldn't beat the end the second time through with that weapon and didn't feel like doing it all over again :( I'd definitely put Super Ghouls n' Ghosts up there along with Ikaruga, Gradius V, F-Zero GX story mode, but probably the hardest would be some of the old school arcade games like Robotron 2084 and Gun.Smoke, oh and trying to play Gauntlet by yourself was lol[QUOTE="Shidira"]

It is a benchmark among friends and me, for perseverance in gaming.[QUOTE="Shidira"]

Well, I'm not that well seasoned in the hardcore gaming area. I tend to get so frustrated I end up with controllers burried in walls, and the like, but Astro Boy: Omega factor on GBA. On "easy" it really was quite easy, on "normal" I don't think I ever got to the very end, and on "hard" I was just lost. Was still an awesome game, though.
same for me, it was just so frustratingI HATED DEVIL MAY CRY 3. The american Normal mode was japanese hard.
