Who else is getting Hogwarts Legacy?

This will be the first $60 game for me in a long time. Anybody else getting Hogwarts Legacy?

I don't have it installed from the blu sky so I won't be.

I will probably get it. Could use a good fantasy game that isn't slower-paced like a regular RPG.

Maybe if an actual compelling trailer is released but as of now it hasn't done anything to capture my interest.

Not sure yet... I'm a big Harry Potter fan, but what I've seen of this game so far hasn't grabbed me. It looks quite mundane & fetch-questy. But we'll see.

I have no idea what this game is about. Movie game, RPG, Soulslike? I know it's based on a very famous children's book but I know very little about it.

It's definitely in my top 5 games I'm looking into. Before I buy it I'll still wait on reviews. And patches.. And a sale..

i really need to trade callisto protocol in asap before its value plummets to next to nothing and i will entertain anything to get the damn thing off my hands quickly, so hogwarts is a contender, alongside dead space remake (which i dont really want) and atomic heart (which i want but it's not out until late feb).

i've never seen a harry potter film (or read any of the books) so worried a lot of the content and references will go above my head, even though this is supposedly set a long time before harry. i cant see it being no prior knowledge required. and because of my lack of interest in harry i know next to nothing about the game either, but it's got to be better than callisto and beggars cant be choosers

It is hilarious seeing the gaming media trip over itself trying to blacklist this game all because JK made some comments on female biology though. I can't believe you bozos are engaged in a culture war over Harry fucking Potter all because an extremely small and niche, 0.5% of the human species, demographic were upset.

Welp, I pre-ordered after all. I think I'll enjoy exploring the school/castle.

Definitely intrigued but will wait for reviews. If it's good I am picking up full price.

I like Harry Potter. I never read the books but I've seen the films in my adult years and enjoyed them immensely. It'll be interesting to experience an open world Harry Potter. I intend to pre-order it but we shall see.

As @Macutchi notes can it be worse than Callisto Protocol, maybe? I'd personally only give this game a shot if it was part a subscription model or offered a trail/ demo build. But I doubt they've got the confidence to offer such.

Here is my take on the Hogwarts Legacy game-

• Licenced games are typically garbage. Outsourcing is solely to make the most of a fandoms love for a franchise, a quality product isn't mandatory. All that matters is that it releases and has the logo.
• From what I've read they've avoided showing one-to-one gameplay that isn't overly scripted and or not in-game (the Cyberpunk method)
• Avalanche Software portfolio of games is awful, previous offerings are Pixar video games. Most recent being Cars 3 a game released in 2017. They haven't made a game in six years.
• The framerate is awful in the showcase presentations, as well as awkward pop-in.
• Main complaint I've read from Avalanche Software is that they have bad controls and are typically buggy games. This is not a well regarded developer.
• All signs above lead to that this game will be awful.

Hogwarts Legacy from what I see is for a few kinds of customers in the market place-

• Harry Potter fans (which is a no-brainer) they don't care if it's good or bad, more so buy it as a collector investment and love for the IP.
• Those wanting to explore a fantasy world that focuses more on a day-to-day life style over dungeons or slaying monsters. One could argue this is going for more the Elder Scrolls approach of the journey over the destination games such as Elden Ring and Monster Hunter priorities. Cooking, socialising, levelling up many skill trees not related to combat.
• Overall I think the kind of customers who bought Avengers and Anthem will give this game a buy (is that alittle on the nose?) Some people fall head over heels for expensive marketing campaigns regardless of the games actual quality. Easily pleased with what some salesman tells them what to buy. Unfortunately big marketing campaigns pay-off even for the worst of games. In marketing it's termed "Jargon" but you may know it better as 'Sales Deception'. And Warner Brothers has never been shy of using it if it makes them money, for a game that would otherwise be eaten alive.

*Do I think this game will be trash? sadly yes. I just also think it may have merits to keep someone hooked looking for a certain untapped niche in the current gaming space. Not many recent games capture the Elder Scrolls method of fantasy simulation ARPG.

I'm holding out for The Wayward Realms and final version of Baldur's Gate III for that fantasy world journey. But to each his or her own, I don't want to tell people they're wrong to want this game, just know it's probably going to be bottom of the barrel for quality.

I hope it's at least playable and offers some fun for those diving down this rabbit hole.

All the mentally handicapped whining influenced me to buy multiple copies & tell everyone I know to buy the game.

What exactly is the aim of this game? Does it play like D2 with a mix of dungeons/pvp/sp or is something else?

After seeing the gameplay vids... my interest, which was minimum to begin with, dwindled. I might try it out, if there's a chance and maybe buy it for a decent price, but, I really have my doubts. Looks like your average open-world action adventure game just with Harry Potter skin.
