i won't pay anything over it's original retail price.. but lately i have had the urge to get a spend a ridiculous amount on a really expensive and rare game.. hope fully i don't give into that..:?
65$ for gran turismo 5
And that'll also be the most I HAVE EVER paid for a game
I usually only pay 1-45$ depending on the game...hardly ever do I go over that...Only once I did
I paid 50$ for Modnation Racers...and I'll be paying full retail for Gran Turismo 5 65$
Games are fun but they shouldn't rob you 100 bucks
I will never pay more than $60. Why? Because anything above that is rediculous. I mean most games I buy new don't excite me that much to play them for a second time around. So that's why gamefly is so amazing :]for me $90

Your not alone. I spent 20 bucks on Outrun 2006: Coast To Coast for PSP, mainly because it was brand new, then 1 week later, at Gamestop it's sold for 4.99 USED, with everything included and good UMD condition, and I just remember saying why oh why the whole time. But I do agree, nothing over the original retail price unless it's a MUST-Have and can't get it anywhere else and condition wise.i won't pay anything over it's original retail price.. but lately i have had the urge to get a spend a ridiculous amount on a really expensive and rare game.. hope fully i don't give into that..:?

ya im really cheap
i hesitate when i spend 15 dollars or more
$90 is insane for a single game in my book. No game is that good. Top I'd pay is $35, maybe $40. But it better be a dang good game at that price. I don't have to rush out and buy the midnight release copy of a new game. I know every $60 game is gonna drop to at least $40 in a few months time when the next big game hits. And I have a big enough collection that there are plenty of games to keep me busy until that price-drop happens.for me $90

60 bucks. Why? Because if it's going to be that much, it better be worth it.
A perfect example of this is Alpha Protocol. I really enjoyed this game. It was buggy and didn't feel quite finished but it felt experimental. I would not throw down $60 bucks on this game though. For something that different I think the priced themselves right out of the market. When the mediocre reviews came out they should have just dropped price to $40. I think the biggest mistake the industry has made is the $60 dollar price tag. When the next gens came around they all jumped on the $60 saying it was because bluray was so expensive and the games were harder to make but the economy was doing way better then. They really didn't think about effects down the road. I always assumed the Tech would catch up and prices would go back to $50. So much for being optimistic.Honestly, if the industry would produce games of quality, then I may considerthrowing the money aroundWhen like 75% of the games are absolute garbage IMO, there is no way im going to risk by games brand new, unless I am almost completely certain it will be a good game; meaning solid graphics, much more than a few hours of gameplay and replayability. Too often do I see games being released that I swear are just dictated by the accounting departments of these companies because they want to milk a quick buck from the consumer.
35 bucks usually, 60 bucks RARELY, and I mean VERY rarely. I've only preordered 2 games in my entire 20 plus years of gaming, Twilight Princess and Fallout New Vegas. Because I just knew Twilight Princess was going to be good since I am a big Zelda fan, and I loved Fallout 3 so much that I decided to fork out the 60 for the preorder for Fallout New Vegas.
On top of that, I am not really that big of a collector. I see these people on youtube and gamespot with such HUGE collections and I never felt like showing mine since well, I am pretty laid back now a days about it. But kudos to people that can afford every 60 dollar game out there that comes out.
Other than that, I don't buy too many games now a days, only the ones I know that will be good.
It all depends on the game. For current gen games, I generally won't pay more than $35, and that is rare. For older games...the sky is the limit. I haven't payed very much for any of the vintage games I have, but I could easily see paying $18,000 for Nintendo World Championship's Gold. I don't have that kind of money by far, but if I did, I would pay it. You have to look at the resalability as well as the fact that it's a game. By that token, a car is a car, but a Ferrari is worth much more than a Kia. I don't see a problem with spending money if that is what it is worth. That said, most current gen games aren't worth the $65 they are asking, so I wait until they go down in price.
Well of course, this all depends on what game we're talking about, but any recent games for 360 or Wii, 40 bucks is my absolute limit.
But when I'm buying older games like SNES and Genesis games, I usually only pay 2-5 dollars each, unless it's something like Final Fantasy 2 or earthbound.
What really pisses me off is when people think that the legend of Zelda is a really rare game because it's gold, and they try to sell it for 60 bucks.
Well, no. Most people would pay 15 dollars max for legend of Zelda.
I generally dont like to pay more then 20-30 dollars for games.
Its pretty rare when I buy a game brand new, I think Uncharted 2 was the last time I did it. Usually I wait until a game has been out for awhile and dropped in price a lot to purchase it.
This also applies to retro games I buy.
prolly 200 so i can experience the Radiant Silvergun
Plisken1
do it!!!!!! i got a good deal on it for $165 (lmao good deal) but seriously that game was worth EVERY penny to me :).
fyi: if you have a 360 you might want to wait cause Radiant Silvergun is officially coming to the 360 next year.
I'm cheap...I seldom if ever buy games new. The only times I've done that are with LEgo Indiana Jones for 40, Lego Batman for 40, and I'll probaby get Toy Story 3 PS2 when it comes out new.
Obviously a distinction needs to be made between normal games, and retro collectable ones.
For normal common releases, I rarely run out and spend the full $59.99-$69.99, I'll just wait and grab a copy 2 months later for $30.
That said, I own several games (suikoden II, magic knight rayearth, shining force III etc) that typically range at $130+ on ebay, and I'm currently trying to get myself a copy of "Panzer Dragoon Saga" that goes for $200.......
59.99 us dollars for a ps3 360 game
49,99 us dollars for a wii psp ps2 game
29-49 for handheld
old games depends on how good it was/is
but not over 40
It would depend on the game. Couple hundred I guess if I was going to assume it would be the perfect game for me and have my attention for months or years.
this is a touchy subject for me as i tend to be thrifty when it comes to buying games. there is only a handful of current-gen games i have paid full retail for and thats because i understand the system at hand here- new releases are only the "flavor of the month", and i dont wont to kick myself for dropping $60 bucks on a game (i am looking at you fifa world cup 2010!)that in 2 months is going to be $40. look at darksiders, in january it was $60, in april it was $40, in july it was $30, and now its $20. still a good game 9 months later, but i would rather wait that 9 months and feel better about paying only $20 for it.
now when it comes to "legacy" systems, its all subjective. a game for neo geo? well yea i might pay $150 for it, if i spent 7 months looking for it and couldnt find it cheaper. but certain games like shining force 2, well i took the time to look for it instead of paying $45 on the first copy i found, and 3 months later got it for $7. same with M.U.S.H.A., its not worth the $80 dollars it was going for online.
if a game is rare enough, and i got the extra cash, $90 dollars is not out of the question. but it better be in mint condition with case and instruction manual!

Panzer Dragoon Saga ~$250.
Emerald_Warrior
I wouldn't pay that much for a system. That's insane.
When you buy PDS, you're basically renting it. Drop $250, play it, sell it back on ebay for $250, or a little less if your feeling nice. I hear the original code was lost so there will always be a demand for this game.
