What game from your childhood is the most important to you that got you into games or you have the best memories with. For me it's Sonic the Heghohog 2. My cousin gave me his Sega Genesis and some games and Sonic 2 was the very first video game I ever played. I remeber thinking it was so awesome the first time but Iwas about 5 years old so I don't remeber a whole lot. All I know is that game got me into video games. I loved it and I still love it today. I also loved Driver 2 as a kid. So what about you guys?

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. That was the very first game that I owned within a year of its original release, which is why it really stands out among all the games I played as a child. Also, the game is absolutely amazing & I'll always remember it as one of the best games ever made.

Fable, without a doubt to me. Morality in a game was so strange to me. Not just shooting things in the face for no reason. It made you realize that there was a consequence for your actions, that that they had weight.

The obvious answer would be that Duck Hunt/ Super Mario Bros. cartridge i had as my first game for my NES...but once i started thinking about it i realized it would have to be Pokemon Red version as it was the game that really turned me into a gamer

Donkey Kong Country and Pokemon Silver made me a gamer. So much playtime on those. Have to also mention Burnout. Smash Bros., and the Wario Land games as stuff I really sunk time into when I was younger.

****, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for me as well. My mother said that some cousins of ours gave Sonic 2 to us (me and my brothers) as a Christmas gift (and a replacement Genesis too, I think.)My oldest little brother and I played it the most, just like with any game we had. I was Sonic, he was Tails. We played the game so damn much that we figured out how to get so good that we went from getting Super Sonic from Aquatic Ruins to getting him at the 2nd act of Emerald Hill. I think Sonic 2 is the best 2D game and the best platformer of all time. More platformers should copy it's 3 section level design (Upper/sky, middle ground, underground/water)

Roller Coaster Tycoon

Zoo Tycoon

Both got me interested in gaming for the first time back when I was a kid. Wouldn't have bought my first system without playing these two games.

SMB3. Played and played and still play. I will always play nintendo games, mario/zelda/metroid/dk etc... but SMB3 was the best game ever. (with that being said, games like SMG2 have surpassed my expectations of what a mario game can be, and i hope nintendo continues.)

Final Fantasy 1. Rented it many times for the NES, finally got it for Christmas, and had an incredible sense of accomplishment when I finished it off. It took off from there.

I played EVE Online for a little while. I left the game once they started having problems with the game (i.e. hackers, etc.) and I moved on to other games. It was fun when I was playing it though.

Well.. I have a little from different generations, but they have been equally 'important'

Black and white on 5 1/4" discs(DOS):

Space Invaders

PacMan

Tetris

Amiga:

North and South

Street Fighter 2

NES:

Super Mario Bros.

Duck Hunt(with guns)

Windows(DOS32):

Keen

Jazz Jackrabbit

Later than that the games industry seriously boomed and the amount of games I've played an enjoyed are probably close to 1000 now :P

With Eve, I (eventually) led 200 man fleets in battles that actually had an impact on the wider game. I also had the chance to build a team and have to recruit and motivate people in my corporation. Those social / leadership chances you don't get until a bit later in your career in RL, whilst I got to do that stuff aged 21 Edit: I did have to play for 2 years before things clicked and I got those chances

Pokemon Red and eventually Gold, Age of Empires 2, Starcraft & Brood War, Warcraft 2, Command and Conquer Red Alert 2

But the game that really marked all my childhood, has gotta be Age of Mythology.

Important? That's hard to define. What makes them important? I could list hundreds as my favorite. Im really confused.

All go with the Mario games on the NES. They were what got me into gaming in the 1st place.

Can''t really pick just one. So I will pick a few...

Spyro The Dragon (PS1)
Super Double Dragon (SNES/Genesis)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES)
Duke Nukem 3D (PS1/N64)
Goldeneye 007 (N64)
Sunset Riders (SNES/Genesis)
Twisted Metal 2 and 3 (PS1)
Grand Theft Auto (PS1)
Spider-Man (N64/PS1)
007 Tomorrow Never Dies (PS1)
WWF No Mercy (N64)

I'd say those are the top ones, but I could add like another 50. I spent A LOT of time with those games.
