What is your most jaw dropping moment in your time as a gamer?

Mine would be seeing the Mario 64 commercial for the first time. Those graphics just blew me (and all my friends) away. The second time would be when I saw MGS2 playing on a PS2 before the PS2 was due to come out. A crazy step up from the N64. I look back now and all of it looks so dull. I wish I could go back.

EDIT: Donkey Kong Country, Mario RPG, Shenmue, and Sonic Adventure were also games that dropped my jaw when I first saw them.

I've been playing since the Commodore 64 era, but one of the things that "wowed" me the most was when I picked up a PSP. And then I was wowed again when I played GTA Vice City Stories on the PSP. A full fledged GTA game in the palm of my hands? Incredible.

Oh ya, that too. Loved that game. Seeing the crystal cave for the first time looked so damn amazing. Everything in that game.

As odd as this may sound,

Legacy of Kane for the original PS, those FMV's for the time were pretty good.

Well, furthest back for me would be playing Final Fantasy 8 and being completely wowed by the CGI. The intro in particular was amazing. Also, when I first saw MGS2 running in real time I could hardly believe my eyes; I didn't think graphics could look any more realistic...

 I wish I could go back! Then every game I played would seem amazing!

this is a hard one ... although i prefer the old-school days. I can't forget 2 moments i've had the "wow" look on my face.

The first time was when I saw the demo version of Metal Gear Solid on psone.

The second time was when I turned on my PSP the morning of launch day. My eyes were wide like i've seen a ghost.

likewise buddy, The 1st time I played TTT I was like @_@ at the graphics and gameplay. Also I was wowed when I played Shadow of the Colossus, I had never played a game like this before and I was truly awed at the scale of the bosses and how you had to defeat them.

Gameplay that "wowed" me - GTA San Andreas, Okami, and Hitman series.

Graphics - Hitman Blood Money and Shadow of the Colossus

I don't know why but CGIs never made my jaw drop. I prefer gameplay graphics than CGIs.

What really "Wowed" me was when I got the Super Nintendo for my birthday (I think I was 4-5) I was so happy I didn't play it until later that night because I was in such shock and awe.

Back when I got the game for Christmas in 2001, the first time I played Super Smash Bros. Melle blew me away with the graphics. They looked so much more realistic.

I mean, Mario's overalls were were so detailed!

The biggest WOW gaming moment in my life was seeing Mortal Kombat in the arcade for the first time. It was the bloodiest, most realistic looking( the charactor animations) and fun game I had ever seen at the time. It blew my mind. The climax was watching someone get thrown into the pit. I was like 9 or 10 at the time.

I was wowed by Crash Bandicoot for the PS1, which was the first game I ever got for the system.

The next greatest wow was when I got an Xbox and played Star Wars: Clone Wars on it. The graphics seemed incredible at the time :D

Why wouldn't it be fitting for this forum? Just because older systems look like crap now doesn't mean people weren't completely blown away by the technology when it released...

The several hours I spent playing the Legend of Zelda on my brothers friends Nes. He had just picked up the game, and being older, I bullied him into letting me play all day long. Until his Mom kicked me out:lol:

The Resident Evil 4 prologue blew me away.

Cornered. Out-manned. Frantic. Chainsaws buzzing. Running out of ammo. Freaks coming in every door and window. Literally saved by the bell. Awesome.

FFVII

RE4 just opens up and throws a whole village of people at you in the first ten minutes.

Absolutely awesome. And one of the better combat systems in any game. Ever.

Most "Wow'd" I've been was with Secret of Mana's graphics. I couldn't believe it.

Also, Halo 3 in 720p.

Also, Halo 3 in 720p.

And Fire Emblem's wicked gameplay.

Also when I first played the Demo for Heroes of Might and Magic, when I first played Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, Syndicate for the PC and when I first played Quake II in Open GL when I got my NVidia Riva TNT 16mb graphics card for Christmas.

I don't know about the most, but the first time I got into a R-360 Arcade cabinet it was the wow of a lifetime. I only wish I played it more. But I remember it cost 4-5 times the usual Arcade coins to play.

I didn't know anything about Wii or which games where coming out and when I saw that Twiligt Princess was coming out I started shaking with excitement. Don't think I've ever wanted something so bad in my entire life, because Zelda: OoT was beyond perfect.
