I know this topic probably came up before, but it´s a discussion that I find relevant.

Games like Fahrenheit(Indigo prophecy)and Mass effect did have love scenes but they are just a drop on the ocean.

Your thoughts?

Yes, there should be everything in games that is in real life too. Unfortunately some countries *couch* US *couch* are way too shy about some things *couch* nudity *couch* that stuff like that rarely happen.

I'm fine with implied sex in games - especially if it means we don't have totally stupid sequences like in Fahrenheit (interactive sex scenes? random nudity? eh, it just seems really out of place).

Funny how you mention the US, even though no games have ever been banned here. If any country has a problem with adult content, it's Australia. They even banned Leisure Suit Larry, lol.

If the game is for a mature audience then I can't see why they should be treated as children.

As long as it fits within the context of the game and the game is an !8 then I think it would be a good idea. All the blanked out screens and wide shots can be very silly.

Strangely enough, we got an uncensored version of The Witcher, while the US version had most of the nudity and gore removed. :P

doesn't bother me a bit. I mean, in a game like GTA, I was expecting it. and in Mass Effect, it just helped flesh out the Asari race and who they are.

And strangely enough developers do not add nudity as it would make games mature only, which would be very bad because some main distributors like mall-wart woudn't sell them. Sure Australia is one too, but it doesn't affect games that much. Also theres Germany with their phobia for blood etc.

I guess. But very few games actualy would effectively implement them lol :D
Most people would just put "INTERACTIVE, FULL FRONTAL FEMALE NUDITY, UNCENSORED SEX!!!!! AND BOOBS!!!!" all over the mainpage or make it a cornerstone of the marketing. Kids like boobs :D

Sure why not. Videogames aren't just for kids an teenagers. If a company wants to make an adult game they should be afforded that right to do so. There are appropriate venues where those games could be sold.

Every time I look up the average age of gamers, it's somewhere between 29 and 36. I think there's a large market for mature games out there that nobody's taking advantage of.

Heh, would you prefer chairs? ... Yeah, my bad. English isn't my mother language and swedish is something that have hindered my ability to learn other languages properly( We have to learn it even if we don't use it. :/). I hate how they censor even harpies melons with bikinis or something like that. It just breaks immersion sometimes and sometimes its just plain stupid looking.

I agree about the harpy thing...I mean even Walt Disney in Fantasia showed the harpies breasts in the "Night on Bald Mountain" sequence. If Disney can do it, video games should be allowed to also. As long as the sex/nudity applies to the story in some manner or advances the plot or whatever, it should be allowed.

If they're going to have sex for entertainment value like in Mass Effect, they need to start working on making better sex.

Why not, sex is perfectly natural and shouldnt be frownd upon, where as blowing peoples limbs off and cutting them in two is far from natural.

People fear the wierdest things.

very interesting topic...

I think it's a great idea... i mean, if it's okay to kill people then why isn't it okay to make them ? :D

people make it seem as if sex is a bad thing! if the sex aspect is correctly moulded in to the context of the game then it will be one of the highest selling games of all time - guarenteed. ... don't lie to yourself...you know you will buy it... ;)

If tasteful(yes, sex can be tasteful) than I am all for it. I would rather games avoid the "boob shots" that movies are populated with however.

Also, I think that pornographic games are perfectly fine of you are an adult and want to purchase one. Good luck learning Japanese.

Sales in the Mature region are actually the minority.

Go to http://www.theesa.com/facts/index.asp. 80% or so of games sold last year were in the E, E10+ and T region. (But then again, I think the Wii is the main culprit.)

I think videogames should be able to show anything they want. Lazy parents should not blame developers or stores because their child saw sex or violence.

That was most for the laugh than anything else. :P

I don't mind sex/nudity when well applied, and when the little kids aren't going messing around with these games.

Agreed. I wouldnt really be interested in a QTE sex scene in a game but a nude setting for say, a game like DOA Xtreme or Rumble Roses would be most welcome.

yes, but apparently it is so wrong to make love instead of killing eachother... what does this tell us? The ESRB is a secret organisation trying to program us all into mindless killing machines that does not know the feeling of love duuuude!

Nope rarely does sex or nudity really ever add to a story. Mass effect was lame, Indigo Prophecy eh still didn't do anything to really enhanec the story, I might die lets have sex. Its just there to be there and I'd rather have it not be but thats just me.

I don't mind aslong as it's kind of relevant and tasteful. Fahrenheit and Mass Effect's sex scenes are tasteful and I found them to fit in the game. I also don't really mind some slight nudity either because it is pretty natural. Never really understood why violence is more okay then slight nudity.

I don't care what it is that's in a videogame but it has to be done well. If it's done well, it's OK to be in the game. If it's done simply for the sake of doing it then that's kinda lame.

I thought Mass Effect's sex scene was really quite dumb (but then again I thought the whole romance subplot was badly mishandled). It felt like the developers just put it in there for shock and awe. But then again they were trying to go for the interactive movie feel, and sex is a part of the movies.

However, I don't know if sex really has a part in games. It would have to be done tastefully as others have said before. But I haven't seen that done yet and I don't even know how it would look like.

I think it definately hampers my ability to play certain games during "Family hours" when my young kids are around.
