Sequels that should GET MADE but probably won't.

So here I am, about to make this list of games or franchises that I believe should get a sequel but in all probability, it won't happen. So then, what is the purpose of this list? Just to satisfy a dream I suppose. Really, I'm writing this to gain insight about the rest of you. I'm writing this list in hopes that you'll add to it with your own 'wish list' of sorts or point out games that you believe deserve sequels. So here's my list (to the best of my memory, I may add to it later).....Old dreams die hard.

There should be a Crackdown sequel, but I hear the developers have forsaken it and devoted themselves to making some sort of online game.

Tomba 3. The first two games are loads of fun, but they just didn't sell :(

And Killer Instinct 3. There's enough rumours around now, I just want it to be announced. But the way it's looking, it's probably not comming

Bully 2. Im actually not sure about this one. We could see this in time, IMO

Wow, I actually had to look that game up. I had honestly never heard of Strider before this post, but now that I've seen it it looks strangely familiar.

Keep up the great work! It's great to hear from you all in this regard. I love reading your posts and seeing what it is you guys want.

A few comments I wanted to make were the following -

a Warcraft 4 (RTS, true sequel to Warcraft 3) is going to happen.

an Onimusha 5 (or sequel to Onimusha Dawn of Dreams) is in the pipeline and is going to happen

an Xcom sequel is happening, thanks to the people hard at work at 2kBoston, lead by Ken Levine (so expect it to be FPS)

a Skies of Arcadia 2 was/is in the works, got far into development and well into production, but some expect it was cancelled since it was not shown at TGS 2008, no word from Sega on cancellation, I hope to God it wasn't, I love SoA

as for Shenmue 3...........I think Sega will one day see the light and commence work on it, but it is not currently being worked on

Team ICO is currently working on a new game, and since their only two games thus far have been related to each other it's likely the game coming out will be a prequel/sequel to SotC and Ico.

Quantic Dream is also making a new game, Heavy Rain, which will essentially be the spiritual successor to Indigo Prophecy (IP can't possibly have a sequel since the ending kind of closed things up).

You've probably seen him in the Marvel vs. Capcom series... yeah, he was pretty much the coolest character in that game.

The original Strider was capcom's take on a ninja gaiden/shinobi type game during the 16-bit era.

Strider 2 released on PSOne. It was in 2.5 D.

Good news on team ICO! Their art direction/ style is so unique, anything from that (whether related to ICO/ SotC) should be worhtwhile! And it was misleading to say IP2 because I just wanted the same type of game, different story from the same guys (in this case, Quantic Dream). Either way, good news from them too!

And lastly, I knew War Craft 4 would appear, I just don't want the long wait! (which of course will happen if D3 won't be released until SC2 is complete....)

An Earthworm 3 was already made, although it was called Earthworm 3D (kinda like what they did with Duke Nukem 3D). An Earthworm 4 is being developed by Interplay, recently resurrected.

Rockstar had stated in a 1up.com interview they had no intentions of making a Bully sequel. I hope they change their mind.

I don't know what Monolith thinks or feels about making a Shogo 2.

I don't know that the WHOLE original team has been restored but what is confirmed is that Earthworm Jim 4 has been announced. The game will be developed with character creator Douglas TenNapel, who will also serve as the project's creative consultant. A new animated series and feature film are also in development. More information is available, along with forums, at the new Interplay website - http://www.interplay.com/

Of the future of the SSX series, Wikipedia notes that :

"Currently, there is no news on another SSX game, but during the Burnout Paradise demo released by EA, DJ Atomika says he got a call from Mac Fraser, saying that the mountains will be ready to ride again this winter. This could strongly hint the game coming out in 2008 or early (January-February) 2009, but whether this information is a hint or just a joke is yet to be discovered."
