it's true that the Genesis isn't as powerful as the SNES (in terms of sound & graphics), but it's games sure make up for it, I'll just give ONE example to say it all,
STREETS OF RAGE 1&2 (3 was really bad though :( )
the Genesis/Mega Drive had a higher processor than the SNES but it did lack more color and better sound like for instance thats one of the reasons why sonic's so fast but with some SNES games they had add ons inside the carts like the super FX chip which allowed the SNES to pull off 3-dit's true that the Genesis isn't as powerful as the SNES, but it's games sure make up for it, I'll just give ONE example to say it all,

Actually 3 was the best in terms of gameplay...I goes to show how much of an impact a bad soundtrack/recolouring characters can make. The eye-popping of SOR2 were gone and so was the great soundtrack but the gameplay underneath it all was stronger than ever.
So many awesome games on that system. Alien Soldier, Gunstar Heroes, SOR(1) 2 and 3, Sonic 1,2,3 and Knuckles, Rocket Knight Adventures 2 (still trying to find this game), (Super) Street Figther 2 (I know it looked better on the SNES, but the 6 button MD controller made it so much better), Comix Zone to name a few.
:) Good News: My brother and me found all of our old Genesis Games
:( Bad News: Our Genesis is missing it's plug.
Ah yes the Mega Drive, good times. This was my first venture into 16 bit gaming as I had been the happy owner of a Commodore 64 for about 5 years. Not having to wait 10 minutes for a game to load was something back then I can tell you.
It was never intended to be called Genesis in the U.S, unfortunatly Sega had no choice as some other company was using 'Mega Drive' for one of their products (who though?).
Set mine up recently to play a few retro games the way they're meant to be played ;)
Spent a good 2 hours playing and finishing Toejam and Earl, cant get enough of that game its awesome. Theres a few games I might have to track down on ebay, Streets of Rage II for starters :)
