Back in the N64 era it wasn't uncommon where I lived to shell out $120 for a game. Not because we wanted to mind you.
So many people on these boards say that N64 games were really expensive. Walmart at the time had new releases for $40 or $50.muthsera666
Where do you live ? I live in Ontario, Canada and I remember buying N64 games from Walmart there for as much as $120 after taxes circa 1998-2000. I paid $85 for Quake II, and $120 for All Star Baseball 99. I think that I may have had to pay those prices because the Loonie sucked compared to the US dollar at the time.

Pennsylvania, United States. Heck, the Sam's Club had GoldenEye 007 when it came out. A bundle with the game and strategy guide for $40. I bought Gauntlet Legends and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron shortly after they were released for $40 a piece. My parents bought me LoZ: Ocarina of Time for $20 (half-price at a liquidation sale) a little after release as well.Games in Iceland cost 11000 isk at the moment, which translates to 88 dollars. However, games used to cost 49 dollars at the most and the material value (inside the country) of 11000 isk is closer to a 110-120 bucks. So I'd say I paid most for Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Usually the pricy games I leave till christmas or my birthday, but as of right now I think Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Addition for $80 is the most I've spent.
When I got my Dreamcast from my sister's boyfriend it had like 20 games with it as well as 4 controllersso I didnt have to buy anything for it.
The most I ever paid for a game at retail is $70 for Phantasy Star 1. Back in the cartridge days the price was tied to the size of the cartridge, and the original Phantasy Star was a then massive 4 megabits.
Mind has brought a blank, I can't remember any game that I've dished out that much cash on. I think it would be Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut in 2004 at 5500 Yen, I think that the runner up would be Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 at 3500 Yen.
The most I paid for a game was probably Halo 2. $45 the day after the launch. A horrible mistake if I've ever made one. I thought it would be as good as the original. A decent game, but definitely not worth $45.muthsera666holy, i used to pay 50-60 bucks for every game i own and theres about 300 of them

175$ for a brand new copy of FFVII. and that was the cheapest one I came across, they all usually go for 200+.
I've never gone over £40 (average starting price for new PS2 games back in the day). With my 360 I've never paid over £10 so far lol.
Bad Company (New) - £10
Viva Pinata & Forza 2 Bundle (Used) - £5
Rockstar Table Tennis (Used) - £5
Far Cry 2 (New) - It was a gift.
65 pounds for the EU version of Panzer Dragoon Saga for the sega saturn
it was actually a big bargain considering it usually costs 150 pounds or more
About 11 years ago I paid £50 for Resident Evil 2 on the PlayStation. I don't remember the last time I spent that much money on the regular version of a game as opposed to collector's editions and the like. At the time I was still in school and that purchase wiped out a good portion of my meagre savings, but it was totally worth it.
$80 for Final Fantasy III (now known as Final Fantasy VI), which, adjusted for inflation, is about $116.51 in today's money. (Wow, I never figured inflation into that before. That's pretty sick.)
It's probably worth pointing out that pretty much all SNES games costed more than today's games if you factor inflation in. Most of them costed $50 or $60 at release.
A factory sealed Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn for over $350. More of an investment, as its price will only continue to rise the older it gets, unless they do a remake (I'd be more than happy to lose out on my money for a remake though :P ). Other than that, I suppose it'd have to be Steel Batallion for the Xbox.
DJ MAX Portable Black Square set me back about $90 CAD. But that was due to a weak dollar and $25 Christmas shipping from Hong Kong. What was most unfortunate was that I didn't like it as much as DJ MAX Portable 1 & 2.
however much it was for the Halo 3 legendary edition, or the GTA4 limitd edition. If i had the 9,999$ id go buy the NES battletoads at the Gamestop, just to say i did. (if you don't know what that means, it was a holiday 2007 thing). they still get calls about it lol.
