I would argue that it is. Alright, it does have action elements to in the form of the shooting and driving, but it isn't an action/adventure: That makes it sound like Uncharted. I think L.A. Noire is an adventure game because the driving force behind the whole game is the storyline, and the majority of gameplay is investigating crime scenes and interrogating suspects.

What are your thoughts? Personally L.A. Noire is one of my favourite games from the past few years: Quite an amazing experience with incredible attention to detail.

It is. But in a whole different sense. Its's more of a role play game. Its appears that you are free to do everthing and story-plot depends on your actions. But it is not so. what i can say is..its different. You need to have a hell lot of patience , you can't skip cutscenes which makes you enjoy the game at begginig. But as the story moves on, you find it is moving towards boredom play for fun, until you enjoy it , play hard. den move on :) if you really want advetourous game to play, max payne 3 is made for you

I'm not sure Max Payne 3 is an adventure game. :P It may be adventurous in itself, but I'd definitely call that a shooter or at a push, an a story-driven shooter.

Well, no. L.A. Noire is more of a action-packed shooter game. And you're just in one city, it's not like you can travel around the world.....although,mthe detective work kind of puts it off. So, I'm not entirely sure if it is a adventure game or not. Depends on what the player thinks :P

There is much less shooting than in previous similar Rockstar games (GTA, Red Dead Redemption). I would classify it as action-adventure. There is still a good amount of shooting, but there are some very simple RPG elements thrown in, such as interactive dialogue and a very simple inventory system.

Yeah, puzzle -adventure i think. Its hard to put it in a box. That's what makes a game good.

We're living in a world where nothing can be defined clearly. You go to a music online and you get a whole mix of 10 genres for one song in the description. The same here. We are getting used to say *** game with elements of *** and ***...

I would say that L.A. Noir is more adventure game than everything else.

Is there such a genre as "detective" or "criminal"? Never heard of it.

I'd say it's a 3D adventure game along the same lines as Shenmue. As long as the action sequences are few and far between, then I'd say it's an adventure game.

I would have to say I consider it an action shooter.

However it doesn't really have a genre - the developers called it a "neo-noir crime" video game.

comparing it to The Untouchable, Key Largo, and L.A. Confidential.

some of the old adventure games do have elements of crime solving but this is more of a shooter

and action game that is divided into short stories.

I think it has a genre all it's own and wonder if there will ever be another like it.
