I finsihed Mass Effect 3 about a week ago, and I have to say that I was a little sad to see the end of the series. It's very rare that a game can have this effect on; the last time it happened was with Red Dead Redemption. When I bought ME 3, I picked Vanquish as well for like $10. I didn't touch it all during at all during my playthrough of ME 3 and I'm glad I didn't. I was surprised at how much it lifted my spirits. While I thoroughly enjoyed playing Mass Effect, it seemed really bleak at times. Vanquish's high energy, fast paced gameplay was what I needed to bring me out of my funk.

My "pick me up" game would be "Sonic Wings Special" or something similar. A SHUMP will alaways be my pick me up game.

God of War III, it was my one and only day 1 purchase. Half-life 3 shall be the next one.

Halo always kind of does that for me. I'm not sure why, but the Multiplayer always seems to get me in a good mood.

Some of the stages on the newer Sonic games are great for that. Rushing around the rooftop stage in Sonic Generations for instance.

Harvest Moon, it's so refreshing and calming. It makes a lovely breath of fresh air after so many violent games over the past several years.

The Last Story. I had pretty much lost hopes of playing another great jrpg ever again but this game was great. Great music, very interesting story (something I very rarely say. On top of my head, Nier, Heavy Rain and Crisis Core would probably be the other ones this generation I truly enjoyed story wise).

It felt great to have this cool town with lots of interesting stuff, I loved how they went back to the roots of jrpgs with more "subtle" quests instead of for example Xenoblade that went the mmorpg-style with exclamation marks, gathering and crap. Fun combat, entertaining characters, much dialogue that was actually interesting to listen to (compared to ie Final Fantasy 13-2 which was like;" time space switch will we ever see this again how i am serious and cant stop talking about the same issue in every single dialogueblablah").

Resistance Fall of Man or THPS3... Something about those games I just love, and that with the nostalgia I get from those games always "picks me up".

oh whoops, I completely misunderstood the meaning. I thought it meant a game you picked up on a whim.

No, I can't recall ever getting a "picke me up" game.

I don't have a specific go to pick me up game...but if there has ever been a game to put me a good mood and make me smile whenever I've revisited it, even after all these, it would be Day of the Tentacle.

Journey recently did that for me. It was a magical ride the first few times, and is still very relaxing even though I've played through it 20+ times more. It helped bring me back to my childhood, and made me feel like a kid entering Disneyworld for the first time. Not many games can do that. Whenever I need to get lost, I boot it up. Wonderful game.

For me, if I'm sad, one of the older Zelda games like Majora's Mask or Wind Waker is almost guaranteed to cheer me up.

A game that generally lightens my mood? Kirby's Epic Yarn was a joy to play, one of the over all cutest games I've ever seen.
