1. The original NES Ninja Gaiden series. I don't believe the new ones have anything to do with that series at all other than the name.
2. Adventures of Lolo (three games just isn't enough Hal Laboratories, aren't you still around? Please create some more, and include a level editor with online sharing too, and pack in about 200 or more puzzles while you're at it, thanks)
3. Streets of Rage
4. The original Phantasy Star series, not this online hack & slash stuff....
5. Chrono Trigger, but if the sequel's anything like Chrono Cross, it can stay dead, do not want
6. SSX
7. Battle Arena Toshinden
8. Nightmare Creatures
9. Legend of Legaia
10. Fighting Force

Champions of Norrath. It makes me sad that this genre has all but died on consoles. Thankfully I game on PC mostly these days and can look forward to Diablo 3.

Actually, I read in the latest Game Informer that Blizzard is looking for people to work on a Diablo CONSOLE game (though not neccesarily D3).
Also, on topic, any Sega RPG franchises: Phantasy Star (not online), Shining Force, Skies of Arcadia...
Yeah, I saw that, but I fully expect it to be a D3 port. Not that it's a bad thing, but I'll probably have been playing the PC version for quite a while by the time it hits consoles.
Also, absolutely agree with Skies of Arcadia. I can't believe I didn't pick that one as well.
I thought of another one: Pikmin. Yeah, Nintendo said they're working on #3, but we've never seen so much as a screenshot.
As long as a developer decides to move on on their own, I'm content with a series ending. I mean, if you force it, you just end up with the sort of thing that's going on with Prince of Persia right now. The latest sequels have been fun enough, but it's pretty clear this series wasn't intended to go past a trilogy. Now they're just stuck in this creative limbo where every game feels more like an experiment to regain relevancy than anything else.
I'd love to see someone pick up the Advent Rising storyline. You can't get me interested in a story, have an ending like that, and then just fail to make another game:x
I'd love to see Volition revisit Summoner as well.
I've pretty much given up on decent follow-ups to Black Isle franchises. As much as I'd love to see another Planescape game, I just don't think Obsidian is capable of it. I don't know how much of the former Troika staff is at obsidian, but I don't think they could handle a decent follow-up to Bloodlines either.
