@mastermetal777

Its usually one or the other, either deep or complex, its rarely both.

@wiouds

Theres been some confusion about what it is about this genre pisses me off so I lately Instead of saying RPG Elements I just say stats...... After all, they are some decent non stat RPGs out there.

I mean Who doesn't like the ability to build and customize a character ? Its something everybody wants, yes even grumpy ol Lulu. So yeah.... stats can burn in hell !

To the topic:

Likes:

  • Stats: this is how you can make a character your own
  • Third person: It give a better view of things and for me it more immersive then first person.
  • Turn base: there are just some games that does not play well any other way.
  • Well stage games: this affect some much of the rest of the game.

Dislikes:

  • QTE: why should pressing button because be called game play?
  • Skill tree and hidden stats: Cause so many bad thing and very little good
  • Too open worlds: This make it so easy to over come so many challenge in games
  • Too much given to interactive story and pick your own dialogue: (I know if not apart of game play) This is the second cause to the downgrading in rpg lately. If you ever read a game that talk about story with choices and consequences then you should be ready for a story that is not that good.

Things I hate?

I hate vehicle sequences. I hate "memory loss/amnesia" based storytelling. I hate unnecessary romance plots or subplots. I hate games that do a bad job with multiple endings. (The choices you make shouldn't be so obvious. )

Things I like?

When I played Elder Scrolls for the first time, I really liked the "The more you use a skill, the better you get" level up system, as opposed to distributing stat points.

I really liked the "embedded" multiplayer in Dark Souls. People leaving messages, notes, ect that you can see.

It's old news now, but I liked the cover-based shooting in Gears of War back in 2006. It was very tight
