Tales of the Abyss by far. It's probably because of the extremely fun battle system. Nothing else comes close...Except for Dark Cloud 2.

Come to think of it, I haven't really played any extremely good RPGs on the PS2, but that's not to say there aren't any.

I'd go with Tales of the Abyss as well.

Probably Persona 3, I only have the portable version for PSP but I heard the game was released on PS2, so ill go with that one

Ha yeah, I've noticed too :P

Story wasn't as personable as other FF titles but I thought it was compelling nevertheless.

Definitely my most played game on consoles, probably somewhere around 200 hours

I've been playing it recently and it's pretty awesome and BTW Vaan isn't an annoying character, Polka from Eternal Sonata however...

Dark Cloud2 easily. FFX was fun, had a good battle system and a better story, but I did not like the sphere grid at all.

Playing this right now. I am no expert on JRPGs for PS2 but it's a definite must play for JRPG fans.
