Crash 2 was the 1st Playstation game i ever played!!
But i didn't know that the crash games wern't owned by naughty dog any-more!!!
I kinda went off crash when they kept churning out more and more pointless crash games, they should have stoped at crash: wrath of cortex or at least make a new crash game for the PS3/X360, keeping the old forular of 5 warp rooms and 5 stages in each and a boss at the end!!...but i have a question or 3...
1. How long ago was it when N-dog sold crash?
2. Which company owns crash now?
3. Which crash games are mady by the new company....OR...what was N-dogs last crash game befor selling?
Naughty Dog became an in-house developer for Sony in 1999. Their last Crash game was Crash Team Racing, and then the rights to the franchise were sold to Vivendi as Naughty Dog worked on Jak & Daxter for the PS2.
Vivendi threw the franchise at a bunch of different developers, including Traveller's Tales, Vicarious Visions, Radical Entertainment, and Dimps. It is currently published by Sierra. Finally, there'll be a 15th Crash game this fall.
When i first got my original PS i got Crash as my first game to go with it and played it to death, it was fantastic and unlike anythin else around at the time.
I recently DL the game again from the PSN and it REALLY hasnt aged well at all!!! The graphics and sound are terrible and the gameplay simplistic and frustrating due to the poor controls (no analogue stick support), how many times ive died cause of the crappy d-pad movement i cant even begin to count.
It did however make me a fan of ND and the subsequent Jak games on the PS2 were fantastic and now with Uncharted the team seem to be doin what they do best.
Im hopin they decide to make a Jak game for the PS3 after the greatness that was on the ps2.
ctr: crash team racing was a classic piece of gaming:)the only crash games I care for are the kart ones

even crash nitro kart was pretty decent imo
I never really liked the original Crash, it was simplistic and frustrating, but Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash 3: Warped were great games at the time and were some of my old favourites back in the PS1 days.
I've tried playing the Crash games that have been produced since Naughty Dog handed over the reins but they just haven't been as good. By Crash: Twinsanity I had given up on the franchise ever being good again and the fact that they keep milking the franchise with countless spin-offs hasn't helped.
Hell yeah, Crash games sucked when the franchise no longer belonged to Naughty Dog, same can be said with Spyro and Insomniac.
It was more of a classic, yes.
Crash Bandicoot games on the PS2 still aren't as bad as people make them seem.
Can't wait for this fall when Crash Bandicoot: Invasion is released. It's the 7th game in the series (in the original series, anyway).
Aaa... Crash Bandicoot. Probably the character that made me fall in love with gaming.
Naughty Dog's original games were heads and shoulders above what Crash Bandicoot games are now.
The character designs were especially excellent. I mean take N.Gin: A scientist whose Rocket experiment went wrong and lodged itself into his head. Or take Ripper Roo, an insane kangaroo! That is so insane, it worked!
The newer company's started to introduce new characters like Rilla Roo, etc. (WTF?!)
Crash Bash was just bareable, but anything after that ruined the series all together.
I've wished for years that Naughty Dog would ditch Jak and go back to Crash. But that ain't gonna happen... :(
I'm neutral on the matter. I REALLY liked the originals for the PS1, but Wrath of Cortex was enjoyable, though slightly frustrating.
Oddly enough, this thread has reminded me I need to pick up Twinsanity and Crash of the Titans eventually. :/
Crash games were great on the PS1, but when Naughty Dog sold Crash to anothor series the new series look really crap.
My favourite Crash game was CTR Crash Team Racing.
I don't think anyone will disagree with that one. Same with the Spyro games. Two once-great series that became crap when they lost their original creators.Abby88
A 1000x times!!! Since Crash they've made the J&D and Uncharted series, so imagine it if they made Crash games again!!!
No because Naughty Dog did not own Crash Bandicoot, they simply developed it and it was Universal that owned the IP.
Even though you probably meant were all the games developed by Naughty Dog better and I do not agree with that. While probably better at their time in relative to how the Crash games today are compared to the current platformers I have much more enjoyment playing Crash of the Titans than Crash Bandicoot.
I would rank the games I have played like this (this is all my opinion of course)
Crash of the Titans- Coop , control alot of monsters with their own powers (Magmadon ftw) great graphics and amazing fights.
The Wrath of Cortex- Vehicles were refreshing and it had plenty of levels. Also it had graphics that are still good (atleast on the Xbox) and started the co-op craze that makes the series more enjoyable imo.
Crash Team Racing- Amazng especially considering the Ps1 hardware.
Mind Over Mutant - Coop as well and actually newer than Crash of the Titans but I did not enjoy backtracking. Also this felt way to similar to Titans.
Crash 3- Amazing platformer but only good at best by standards
Crash Nitro Kart - Very disappointing compared to well Crash Team Racing used the Ps1 hardware but it was a respectful
Crash Bandicoot - really shows its age imo and it tedious to play.
Thats like asking: "Was christmas better when you believed in santa?"
OF COURSE IT WAS!!!
Koba123
Or like asking was Spyro better when Insomniac owned it.
All you can say is...WELL NO FREAKING DUH IT IS!
I haven't played a Crash game in quite a while now, but I thought the original Naughty Dog trilogy on the PlayStation was way better than any of the games any other company made.
The answer is quite simply: yes....I've never been a huge CB fan, but I do think the games have gotten worse without Naughty DogBlueresident87This is exactly how I feel. Its very believable that Crash Team Racing was Naughty Dog's last Crash game because its the only racing game in the series that I found any good. Nitro Cart just didn't do it for me.
