Simple question what is your favourite Sonic game of all time. Mine is Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Never played Sonic CD but I vote for Sonic 3. To me, it did the Sonic 2 thing of taking everything its predecessor did and making it better in every way imaginable. Up until Sonic Colors it was also the last Sonic game that was better than the one before it.
I still think its Sonic 2 and actually I haven't played it in a couple of years now so I may have to have a shoot through it :).
Sonic 2, though I never really got the chance to get too involved in Sonic CD. However I'm still going to say Sonic 2 was the best. I feel that after that game, the art direction started to feel very un-sonic like.
for me it's sonic 2, multiplayer game was good, and to control tails (player 2) in one player game great, that fox many times died
I loved Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. Becoming Super Sonic at the end and fighting Chaos's final form was awesome!!!
[QUOTE="Darkman2007"]Sonic CD with the superior U.S. Soundtrack that actually matches the game. I disagree, I feel the European soundtrack is better, though the US soundtrack has its merits :PSonic CD for me, preferably with the JP/European soundtrack

Sonic CD with the superior U.S. Soundtrack that actually matches the game. I disagree, I feel the European soundtrack is better, though the US soundtrack has its merits :P I disagree. I don't think having "OOH OOH YEAH" playing in a night sky level has any business in a Sonic game. The U.S. Soundtrack was also completely original and was more complicated to compose. Along with the interesting game over sequence. I can give you that the Final Boss Music is barely different than the regular boss music.[QUOTE="Darkman2007"][QUOTE="jakandsig"] Sonic CD with the superior U.S. Soundtrack that actually matches the game.jakandsigI disagree, I feel the European soundtrack is better, though the US soundtrack has its merits :P I disagree. Now if only someone here owned a Saturn so i can bash Sonic R for having no reason to exist.
The original Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Genesis for me. Mostly because it's the game I got with my Genesis back in the day, so I have the most nostagia attached to it. I played the heck out of that game. That, and I really didn't like the addition of the sidekicks. Definetly bearable considering how great the Genesis sequels were, and you even had the option to take Tails out the game (which a lot of people I know didn't even know about until they saw me do it because they kind of hid the options menu on the title screen of Sonic 2). But still, I thought it was stupid. It just made Sonic lose some of that edginess and go more towards the cutesy side. Which unfortunately, the cutesiness got worse as the years went on. Stupid Chaos.

Too bad you need two buy to inferior games to play it.[QUOTE="Seabas989"]
Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the best Sonic game.
jakandsig
Well those two "inferior: games stiull hold up well on there own against most Sonic games. Only Sonic 2 and maybe Sonic CD are better then those two seperately. However these days you can find the full game in many compilations so I don't see the problem anymore.
For me i think it was Sonic an Knuckles
Me and my bro got loads of hours clocked for this, too bad we dont play it anymore :\
Aye, Sonic Adventure was a great game too. It lost its appeal once I played the DX version on the GameCube though.Tie between Sonic 3 and Sonic Adventure.

The correct answer is:
Most people would probably choose one of the first 3 Sonic games on the Genesis, but that's only because they have angst against 3D Sonic games and are stuck in the past. Nostalgia gets the best of them. Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast is the best Sonic game, of every Sonic game I've ever played I had the most fun playing Sonic Adventure.
Slow down with those claims son! I may have chosen Sonic 3 & Knuckles but I love Sonic Adventure. It's my second favorite Sonic game. The correct answer is:

I have no issue with 3D Sonic games (at least not the crappy ones), I actually think Sonic Adventure 1, 2, and Heroes all work really well with the Sonic formula.

I like Sonic Adventure as well, its certainly the best 3D sonic game Ive played.
I thought Sonic Adventure was very average. Even Rayman 2 beat it imo. I also don't agree that Sonic did a good jump into 3D. Sonic Generations is hyped because it will let you play as classic Sonic in 2.5D and that tells something about how successful Sonic's transition into 3D was.

No, it's because those three games actually aged well and are examples of exemplary platforming game design.
Sonic Adventure, on the other hand, was the beginning of the end, bringing in horrible alternative gameplay **** (like the treasure hunting, mech and the fishing), bringing in an overall lack of polish, camera issues, an uneccesary overworld, etc. Sure, it might have seemed great at the time, but time has not been kind to it.
