Okami is definitely right up there as one of my all time faves. Absolutely brilliant. Even though it was eventually ported over to the Wii, I still consider it to be a PS2 game, first and foremost.

Half life 2 for me. An incredible experience that game was.

Stringerboy

thats a close second for me behind Prime.

I like HL2's episodes better than the game itself though. PC version for HL2 of course.

God Bless Valve, they are a saviour for PC Gaming thanks to Steam.

My favorite game of the 2000's is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It was the first story-rich game I'd ever played and is responsible for turning me into the Bioware junkie I am today. In the 90's, I stuck to flight sims, first-person shooters, and Mario, so KOTOR was a very different experience for me.

My choice would be Halo : CE. I am so fond of that game, I can't see changing my mind.

I'm ready to sell most of my xbox games. I have a PS3 now, and have not played an xbox game in 8 months. I will keep Halo CE and one of my two xboxes so I have a console to play it on whenever.

It was good but I would not exactly call it game of the decade. For me it's a Toss up between Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect.

This is a good choice. MP is a great success story:

-The series was designed by Japanese developers, but MP was made entirely by Americans

-The game broke "tradition" by becoming a "first-person adventure" (Nintendo's words). It was here where all the doubt and skepticism came from, but in the end, MP ended up being good. Really good.

I could only imagine the pressure that Retro Studios felt while making this game. The entire world was against them.

Personally I'd give my nod to TES IV: Oblivion. I played that game for so many hours (100s of them) on 360, PS3, and PC. I can't say that about any other game.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I loved the morality system, and how each choice you made had a great effect on the story (a story which rivals the original trilogy), not to mention the most shocking plot twist in gaming history.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. MGS3 was easily the best game of one of the best series in gaming when it first came out and Subsistence took it to another level. Fantastic story-telling, great gameplay, great atmosphere, and addicting as hell. I've never played a game as long as MGS3 strait through in a couple days. It's all I could think of. I've never had that with another game.

It's gotta be Tony Hawk's Underground for the PS2.

Okami looked great, and Mrs. Orange was good for a laugh, but the gameplay was nothing special, to me. I got bored with it and gave up.

I'd have to say The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It was so enjoyable to play, the story was great, well paced and interesting, the characters were good, and the whole atmosphere they hit spot on. I loved every minute of it, and play it regularly. Jordan Mechner's best work to date.

Batman: AA also pops to mind. The more I play it, the more I love it.

But you see...not many people played OKAMI which means it can't qualify for GOTC. it can get GOTC that nobody played award but thats about it. there's no way I can choose a game of the Century as it would be too hard. and FF& was released in the 90's

I didn't care for Metroid Prime. I couldn't even bother to finish it. It was very well designed, other than the controls being downright wretched. They were worse than getting a dual shock for ps1 or a N64 pad, playing any given platformer/fps, and then having to go back to one digital pad for all movements. I had a similar problem with Resident Evil 4, as well.

Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metroid Prime come instantly to mind. Okami is up there, but I still can't feel it beats out some of the bigger titles of this generation. It's just opinion, though, so no worries. :)

The game I had the most fun with in the last Decade would be Pikmin 2 (2004 GCN) I think. The game with the most polish and excellence in craftmanship would go to Dragon Quest VIII Journey of the Cursed King (2005 PS2)

I still haven't really seen a game this decade do what I'd like to see done especially well. That would be A.I. designed intricately enough to give you an entirely different experience each time you encountered it, in terms of unpredictability and methodology, for each individual encounter. Also, the second aspect I used to want has been done; Bioware has done an excellent job of offering not only alternate endings but completely alternative paths to take throughout a game. That said, most of the games named here are excellent nominees. I don't think I could suggest a single best game of the decade...

TC, I wholeheartedly, enthusiastically agree with you 100%. Okami is, for me, far and away, the greatest experience I've had playing a video game since Chrono Trigger(SNES). I just love every. single. thing about this game. From the extraordinary music, engrossing tale, lovable characters, rich environments, tight controls, and *amazing*, transcendent visuals, Okami is as close to perfection as it gets. I think anyone who really, truly loves this game has a very emotional, very real attachment to it. For me, it is hands down the Best Game of the Last Decade.

With all that being said though, Metroid Prime(GC) is a very close second. :)
