Weak Stories??

I've heard some people say that certain FF's had a weak story.So I thought I should post a topic about it.

Personally I think that all the Final Fantasy's had great stories. Although some started weak (like Final Fantasy V) but got better as the game went on.

You hate it or love it? lol Not sure by your reaction. I love the game...just not the way I love my other Final Fantasys (sorry LOL I revived it again)

Yeah the story for TA wasn't all that great, its still a good game though.

Final Fantasy XII had the worst story ever. It felt like there wasn't even a story at all, it was level grind, go to this dungeon, boring cut scene, grind some more, another area repeat...Not to mention you could relate it to a Star Wars ripoff most of the time. You could write the whole story in less than 3 pages.

It also had the worst soundtrack.

And for every cut scene, if there was one, all the characters acted like they just met each other. They didn't have that type of attachment to each other like previous Final Fantasys.

Couldn't agree more, except for that SW rip-off thing. Although I must admit, the final battle did felt like Star Wars.

So much for opinions then :roll: I know many hardcore FF fans who agree with me. You don't have to agree with me and get all nasty like that.

i would just say that this story wasn't just your style... maybe there was just too much politics in it for you 2... And it depends on the 3 pages... It's the writer that makes it 3 pages... You pretty much only have to grind a few times in FF XII to be decent. Yeah and I would agree a little bit like star wars, but It wasn't too star warsy...WhiteFlame-XIII

I appreciate the fact that someone actually gets it. FFXII's story isn't BAD. It is every bit as deep and involving as any prior story. IT is just DIFFERENT in that it is event driven instead of character driven and that it has alot more politics than any prior FF. That doesn't make it bad

I hated the FF III story because it was pretty shallow... not even some character growth... It was just help some random person for no good reason... dungeon, Dungeon, 3 hour level grind, Dungeon, another crap story arc, 2 hour level grind, Dungeon, Dungeon 4 hour level grind... It was horrible...WhiteFlame-XIII

yeah I know what you mean. read the GS reviews for Origin. I mean, come on it was made 20 years ago. Final Fantasy hasn't been like we know it now forever. :P Amnesiac23

yeah, and when they remake a game, they probably try not to stray too much from the game's story and gameplay, only improving graphics and music, just for a bit of nolstalgia for people that played it, and for those who haven't,have them play most of which the old game was.

I think fs_metal needs to understand what "personal opinion" is...just because you think the FFXII story is great, doesnt mean everyone else has to.TaCoDuDe
