.:Bat racer - the 4th joust! - Season Finished:.

It's been a while since we've run a Bat racer game and so with the recent release of the F1 2009 car set i thought now would be a good opportunity to start it up again.

if you are interested in playing post below and if there are enough people interested i'm sure something can be arranged. ( i'm not sure if i can host a private game as i don't have kool tools, ill have to check)

Given the interest in the predictions competition hopefully there we'll be enough people interested to complete the grid and the progress can be recorded either here on the f1pu board or on the bat racer union board which is in need of some more activity.

The game is being organised by General-Doug who will draw the teams and host the game so if you have any questions he is the one to ask. I will keep the thread up-to-date with the season standings.

my mistake i only read the first statement about not having kool tools and didn't read the second sentence as i thought it was part of his signature.

Are you tempted this time Redders or do you still prefer to drive the cars then manage them.

And don't worry kono11 i'm happy to wait for you as there doesn't appear to be a rush to join in, i just hope we can start soon as i can't wait to try out the new features available this season as they have added Kers and the new quali format which will be good fun.

May I make a suggestion? Ahem. Instead of just having ANYONE picking whatever team they want, we have X amount players randomly selected to become team leaders. Then the selected team leaders names are put into something like a prize draw and will be randomly assigned to whatever team they've been given. But when it comes to team mates on the other hand the team leaders can choose who ever they want to be their team mate for the entire season. So, if this idea goes ahead you BATracer veterans better get your racing CVs ready. ;)General-Doug

If i have understood what your saying then we could do this
For the draw i guess we could compare world rankings and the lowest 10 (if we have a full grid) are team leaders. we could put these 10 names in a hat and whoever is picked first gets first choice of car and so on.
then do the opposite for the team mates so that who ever choose there car last get first choice of team mate

which in theory mean the slowest cars have the best players and the team mates will be more likely to work together.

So that's 8 players we now only need 2 more to have enough to start, although we'd ideally like to be as close to a full grid as possible so if there are 12 of you out there that are interested we would be more than happy to have you.

Ok, we just need a minute to sort out the teams so that they are balanced, If everyone can post there World Ranking then the bottom 5 players will become team leaders with the lowest choosing their team first. then the top 5 players will be assigned to there team mates.

Something tells me that at least half the field has no current world ranking in BATracer.

Ok it seems general-Dougs idea will have to wait till next time. Everyone choose a team and just make sure there are 2 players per team and that they are reasonably fair.

So one more team can be created and the rest all need one more driver

Sorry. But I'm afraid you sorta misunderstood my idea from the beginning. The plan was not to have the five lowest ranked drivers to become team leaders, but to have half of the X amount (in our case 10) of players to be selected at random to become effective team leaders. Regardles of world ranking.

Those selected to have become leaders would then be put into another prize draw. Only this time it'd be what team they'd be given. That player then has to create the team he's been assigned to.

The only freedom of choice the team leaders would have is their choice of teammate. They could choose whoever they want to be on their team.

I'm sorry that I never pointed it out that you didn't fully understand my master plan for our BATracer season. I just thought that your 'minor alteration' wouldn't have triggered any problems.

Already four players have just waltzed in and picked, what can only be considered, the best cars straight away. That ruins the whole fun of the idea. I suggest that we scrap the current game and start all over again.

If it's okay with everyone else I will create and manage the game. That way if one team has an ungodly advantage over the rest I can close up the field and make the competition more competitive. I can also be the one who does the prize draws for team leaders and the teams they go to.

if everyone else is happy to do this then i have no problem with it, i would rather have a competitive game even if i'm only trying to win the constructors then have a more open game and as it is your idea it is probably easier if you run it. The only question i have is how do we scrape the current game.

I've got no problem with that - seems like a better idea than what we've got already.

As Rusje started the private game, I think that there will probably be an option for him to delete the game.

No idea where they've gone. But anyway. Without further to do I shall now declare the F1PU Raffle Tick-..... I mean, BATracer Team selection prize draw, officialy underway!!

It's very simeple really. I just write down your gamespot usernames on an A5 sheet of paper, cut them out into smaller pieces, fold 'em, plonk 'em into one of my many F1 caps, shuffle the names, yoink one of the names out of the cap without looking and there you have it. A Team Leader is born!

It's pretty much the same procedure for team selection. Team names in the hat, shuffle etc etc. Although the only difference is I call out one of the team leader's names first, then pick out the team their given.

Which teams will we be using?
