I think the pulse is pretty useful and makes good work off of the new posting now enhancement. The only thing I would like to have done to it is to have separate sections. So like one for user reviews, one for forums, one for user videos, etc.

Im aslo not seeing any official stuff from gamespot. only stuff done by users. Would it be possible to have updates on gamespot news, videos, etc using the pulse?

EDIT: o im really sorry i didnt see the filters section of the pulse. so i guess its just perfect the way it is then. great work.

EDIT by Staff: Adding the link to The Pulse for those who didn't see this through the community announcement.

I also like to add my feedback in this thread. This is a great Enhancement and very useful. Thank you GS for including the filter feature posted by fellow GS user Sentinelrv. This site is the best when it comes to community experience. I'm working on more enhancements for the site so expect more soon. Again, thank you Gamespot.

I actually like the feature. It allows up to date information. What I would like is that the most current information be placed in the first section. I apologize that I'm picky...

It's a cool idea, but I've been doing this for a long time with the "Google Notebook" Firefox extension. (It works as my own "holding pen" that doesn't require going to a seperate page to use)

However, if there was a way to "hold" things while just browsing the forums, this feature would become perfect.

I agree with that also. If I select just news to show up or something, then it brings up news articles that's already been out for a long time now, unless that's the new comments pushing the article back up to be visible again. With things like forum posts or blogs, I noticed that the times are way off. Things are appearing on there that were posted hours and hours ago. Is this normal?

Well it is beta ;) I do think that there should be sections, even though there is the filter. I'm interested in most of the filter options, but I don't want everything together.

Well it is beta ;) I do think that there should be sections, even though there is the filter. I'm interested in most of the filter options, but I don't want everything together.

Do you mean filters like I originally wanted for the posting now feature, except even more advanced than they are now? Here was the posting now feature I made so you remember...

Forums could be broken down into those categories above, with the exception of blogs and union articles. User Videos could be broken down into the different video categories. Blogs could be broken down into the different blog categories. The same goes with GameSpot news and downloads and so on...

Breaking everything down as far as you could would make it much more customizable and give me the ability to find things I'm interested in a lot faster. For example, instead of clicking the check box for GameSpot news, I could go deeper and click on a sub-section such as PC games news. It's kind of pointless to just sit there and wait for something you might be interested in to pop up when we could go deeper with a more advanced filter system and find things a lot faster.

I wasn't really talking about the posting now feature. I just mentioned it because it contains the same filter idea I had for the Pulse. If the Pulse had a more advanced filter system, then the forum posts filter could be broken down into sub-categories like the ones I listed in the image above.

I'm pretty sure this has already been said a few times, but a more precise filter system in the future would be a great addition. Like being able to break down the pulse just to pick up stuff on only PC games, or only 360 games...something along those lines.

It's quite a snazzy feature, but it's ultimately useless. I mean things come up so fast on it that you have to have your eye on it non stop, otherwise you'll miss an article you may have wanted. And if you're constantly scouring the pulse for articles, where are you gonna get time to read them!? :P I'm not sure how the cycling process works, but there appears to be the same things being put up again and again, I assume this won't be the case when it leaves beta.

Hopefully and they made it a seperate page. I wish they would make the forums in a "lite" flavor. I am not on 56k, I do have broadband, but really, I dont need to see all that other kinda useless stuff. I am just wondering what the target audience is? Who sits there and watches that? I know I am not. Oh, and get rid of the ugly icons right next to each topic! They are ugly and clutter the forums, but bold and darken the topic name for the status like before...

It also seems like it doesn't pick up on any of the main forums, just the game forums.  Still a cool feature.

Curious... As mentioned, seems to be recycling stuff, and doesn't seem to keep track of what I've looked at... I suppose someone might find a use for it, but I guess I'll be sticking with Daily Updates for now... The pace and whatnot of The Pulse might suit all the user stuff, but when filtered down to GS stuff I think I like Daily Updates better. Maybe a calm little refresh option on Daily Updates would be ok, but it's probably fine as is. I also wonder who might really sit and watch The Pulse regularly... But I'm sure they're out there... Keep up the good work...

It's interesting for a few minutes but I won't use it. Having a browser window open for the whole thing makes it less of a "pulse" and more of a hospital waiting room.

This would be much improved if you could open a separate smaller window for just the info feeds, or adding a desktop widget to the Yahoo Widget engine (or Dashboard/Sidebar) so that you could get the same info funneled constantly to your desktop without needing to have the large real estate of a browser window open constantly.

Well I was looking around at "The Pulse", I have been using the "Digg Spy" which works similarly to this a lot, but I am having problems viewing and of the buttons like the hold button. I can see if I drag over my mouse to click the button and the pointer turns into the Hand. Well I know its there I just can't see the Icon. I tried both with IE7 and FF 2.0 and neither worked. Seems like a good idea to grab some topics. Hopefully that issue is fixed and hopefully you add some Custom viewers, like to only view Xbox 360 or Wii boards or something in that fashion.

Also I didn't relize but you can customize it, just I can't see any of these Icons, I must be missing somekind of Plugin or something, but I am not sure which one since I have the most recent java, flash, shockwave, etc

I think the timing is just right but check the hold button, sometimes it doesnt hold anything. Also, if possible, expand the filter options. Maybe choosing wich forums you want and add specific platforms to the filter too.

Cool feature as well as the name itself. And like many people have suggested, their should be a drop down menu for all the boards including unions and UCB's.

you cant really complain when you get more than you wanted
