Ok, I would usually wait but this is getting worse. First off, the file I'm trying to upload is 64 MB and 9 mins 19 secs. Anyhow, the first Time I uploaded it, the thing where it should say 'video was uploaded' etc, just returned to the browse for file screen. I tried five times, same thing. so I tried the next day, and this time it said 'need t be a subscriber for this feature' lol, right., anyhow, today I try and it has the following message after you fill in the details and say continue:

Fatal error: Smarty error: the $compile_dir '/tmp/templates_c/' does not exist, or is not a directory. in /opt/php/lib/Smarty-2.6.16/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Some help would be appreciated. thanks.

Same message here as well when attempting to post a video:

Pretty obvious that the GS video servers are having problems. Started yesterday, we just have to wait for them to fix it. I'm guessing it'll be back up by Monday or earlier.

A temporary fix is to use TV.com. You can still post them in blogs.

Fatal error: Smarty error: the $compile_dir '/tmp/templates_c/' does not exist, or is not a directory. in /opt/php/lib/Smarty-2.6.16/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Been researching this for just over an hour.. found several cases that were able to fix this problem just by creating a directory and "chmod"ing it to 777 ( Permissions thing with files and folders ). Case sensitivity may be an issue. Also the /files directory needs to be writeable. Documented in readme but is not obvious.

This person happened to be installing Pligg but this can also happen if your upgrading your version of Smarty or if your permissions are messed up. A couple others just wrote the code wrong.

There is also an interesting discussion about temporary files needing a certain naming convention. One persons issue was that his system was creating "^"' signs from his "/" marks.

a few links.

They don't usually fix issues that occur during the weekend unless they are catastrophic. Two of these three days were weekend days.
