Achievement tracking / Now Playing summaries temporarily removed from GameSpot.

Over the course of the next few hours (and coming days), you'll notice that all Xbox/Windows live/WoW achievement and PSN trophy data on GameSpot has been removed. This will enable the team to rebuild the system, and ensure all of the annoying bugs that you've been reporting over the past few months are gone.

26th July Update

Your 'Now Playing' list summary (that was on the right-hand side of your profile) has also been removed, due to its link with Raptr. This will be revamped during the achievement tracking rebuild. Your full Now Playing list is still available under your Game Lists as normal.

Edit: You may want to edit the title. At best users will be confused(nobody reads or clicks links:P ) and at worst they will be in an uproar just reading the title.

A glad to have found this post! Have a moment of panic trying to track down where all my achievements had went, and the lose of some gamespot achievements as well.

must have missed this with the Comic Con excitement...got really sad without my achievements... :(

Ha! I was actually trying to wreck my brain figuring out which 2 emblems I was missing. Thanks for the reminder, lol.

As for them 'disappearing' Fuse emblems, I'm sure it has something to do w/ the whole 'achievements' section tweaking....or at least that's what I'd like to think is the best reason. I'm sure once they square everything away we'll see them back on our profile. ;)

Actually, according to Fuse I have 22. According to Gamespot I have 24. So I guess Fuse doesn't count the 100% or Game Expert emblems that Gamespot counts or what? :?

I think that is only part of what they are fixing. They've gotta also be fixing the issue of missing trophies and achievements, right?

And that they won't sit on the issue(s) for over a year without taking necessary action with whatever comes up next. What am I saying, this is GameSpot. We can dream, though, amirite? I highly doubt everything will be fixed, anyway.

Any updates on the update? Havn't heard anything in a while.

Raptr has turned into one large glitch filled mess, that's why all this is happening. They have never gotten past the "testing" phase. Since they "changed" their website recently everything has gone down hill and not many people are happy with Raptr anymore. So, dont expect anything good in the near future.

I find it interesting that the achievements badges, while slightly buggy on Gamespot, have been offline now for well over a month. There is no reason for this at all, given that none of the bugs users were encountering were fatal ones.

Having had the job of server admin before, I am more than familiar with the concept of "staging servers". Is Gamespot not using them to test new code while live code is in use? If they were, there would be almost zero downtime of any feature before being fixed or upgraded.

I hate to say it, but it very much looks like someone dropped the ball here. Bugs other sites have irregardless, you could have kept the feature live and simply disallowed updates while it was being "fixed". Now we're going on five weeks, and it is still offline.

Someone might want to light a fire under the team responsible for the achievements, and see what they can do to resurrect it quickly, even if updates are disabled.

The entire system is being rebuilt from scratch, and to do that the Raptr link had to be severed. Obviously the live code wouldn't work with that link being down. You'll also note that everything that the site was previously importing from Raptr (such as the gameplay activity graphs on gamespaces) has also been removed. The thing peoplewere more likely to notice though was the achievements disappearing.

It would be a different story if GS was doing all of the tracking itself, but it's not, and while it isn't going to come back as quickly as you want, it will be back.
