I know my review won't make a difference, but i am in a reviewing mood - FFVII

User Rating: 9.3 | Final Fantasy VII PS
This game did come out some 7 years ago... and I remember drooling over every screenshot, every rumor, every little detail waiting for this game. I remember buying one of squares fighers (the name escapes me at this very second) just to play the demo... and my jaw dropping and the tingles I got... man, this WAS the next step. It was a great game in gaming... There are not many moments like that. Not for video games, and I can name the few on my hands (Most being Nintendo or Square related). Final Fantasy was the next big thing, and it changed video games as I knew them. Graphics from this point on where nothing unless it lived up to FF7. This has reigned true since, but the gap was huge during 7's reign than compared to 8-11, which the gaps are now starting to fade as other games catch up. This game hands down has the cinematic story for any game I have ever played. It had a good twist ending and wrapped up nicely, leaving you feeling complete. You started to love the characters (I myself a deep Aeris fan). The game was well put together, story, the secrets, everything. There was even a snowboarding mode!! Most of what the reviews are pretty accurate... so I just want to focus on my dislikes from the game or since the game. (Very Minor seeing this game is scoring 9.0+) My first grive has to do with a major character in the game and a twist that follows... anyone who has ever played this game knows what I am talking about (Aer....) not only did I hate this twist... it was ruined by a friend who got up to that part the night before I did (I was at the save 2 seconds before it) Second gripe was from a mini-game that this game had. I reminded me something of that FF3 had, but not as cool and fairly worthless (the hill game). It was a good idea, but, there was no reward to it, the same with the snowboarding. My most major gripe with the game is the replay value. For some reason this game has less and it probably is because of how tight the story is. The game allows for not as much exploration as past FF games (and some later ones) and i found the "secrets" to be few and too obvious. Again, this is coming from someone spoiled with FF3 (6-jp) and Chrono Trigger so i expected alittle more, and that I think is part of my REVIEWERS TILT. I have tried to replay this over and over, but i never can... twice was enough. Other than these gripes... great and wonderful game. It wil be cherished forever. ***************************************************************************************************************** My number most ANNOYED thing about FF7 is not from the game, but from the following. The fans hurt this games image a lot. Although, I have come to learn this over 7 years, this has been an issue and i imagine always will be. FF7 fans tend to be the ones who have more time on their hands then everyone else... and they tend to preach. However... this is unrelated to the review and I will not be using this as part of my score, just letting those who have never played it before to help understand why others hate the game. *****************************************************************************************************************
