By far one of the most overrated games of all time! It's not bad, but it is definetly not the greatest game of all time.
Being a great FF fan, after the amazing experiences of II (4) and III (6) on the SNES, I couldn't wait for the next chapter of the series, but, unfortunately, when I finally played it, I felt quite disappointed...
Its main faults are the mediocre characters and one of the most confused story that I've ever saw in a videogame. Also, I wasn't very impressed by the graphics (even though, to me, graphics is less important than other aspects of a game)...sometimes is good while other times is not.
It has, however, a very good soundtrack - the Shinra Inc. theme, for example, is one of my personal favorite -, but we have to say that all the other Final Fantasy games as well have great musics...
Overall, this game is not bad, but I think it has been overrated too much during the years...there are rpgs on the PSONE that are far superior to FFVII and if you are looking for the true masterpieces of the series, check IV, VI and IX instead.
