Simply put, one of the best games ever created. Easy to get into and hard to put down. Tactics does so many things right it's difficult to list them all. The job classes create a wonderful uniqueness to each gameplay experience. Each character, including Ramza, is very customizable and you get the bonus of some of the best hidden characters created for any game. Special cameos and an incredibly well thought out storyline solidify Tactics as a great game to visit and revisit.
I would love to see an updated port of this or another sequel. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was a great game but it just wasn't level with the original Tactics.
Finally, if you have never played this amazing game, you are truly missing out on one of the best Final Fantasy games and one of the true 'gems' of the original Playstation. My suggestion is to go out and buy a PS2, FF Tactics, and enjoy. :)
