Square developers have once again outdone themselves.

User Rating: 9 | Final Fantasy IX PS
Now, without question, FFIX was the best looking game in the series in every way. It takes the best of the old and mixes it with the best of the new. It kinda has a nostalgic feeling to it that reminds us of the first Final Fantasy games we played back on NES and Super Nintendo. The gameplay of this game is similar to other FF games. You'll be forced to test your brain and your reflexes throughout this games many dungeons and battles. You can now use four players similar to the games of olden days. The summons of this game bring a strong resemblance to the Espers from FFVI. In this game you acquire abilities from the items you equip. The only aggravating part of it's gameplay is it's encounter rate which is increased much more. Mainly, I think, because of the extra party member given to you. Credit must be given where credit is due in this game's graphics. THe graphics in this game defy any hyperbole I can come up with. In Final Fantasy XI, each time you enter a new area, you're presented with something entirely new and beautifully rendered. In an FMV or not. Square has done about as much with the PS as they could. Each character and monster's motions in battle sequence are superbly designed and animated. The music in this game was very good, and superior to most games out there, but not to the level of past Final Fantasy game's soundtracks and musical performances. The music is very light-hearted for battle scenes and doesn't quite suit the atmosphere and attitude of what's going on before a major boss fight. This game is great to play, and continues to be great to play throughout the many hours and sidequests you'll play through. Grab a soda and a snack and saddle up all you fanboys out there. All the bells and whistles of the game are great to play through again if you are in to the game enough. This is a Final Fantasy game, and it plays like a Final Fantasy game. It's got everything you'd want to have in an RPG, so don't hesitate to take a shot at it.
