Final Fantasy IX, greatest Final Fantasy so far?

User Rating: 10 | Final Fantasy IX PS
The second Final Fantasy title I ever played, the first was Final Fantasy VIII which is also an absolute corker of a game, but nothing compares to Final Fantasy IX in my eyes. From beginning to end it keeps you completely captivated with it's immersive character driven story line.
The story is based around your main character Zidane Tribal who works for a gang of thieves that are based in one of the games main cities, Lindblum. Their thievery takes them to a nearby city called Alexandria where Queen Brahne resides, whilst in the city the gang put on a theatre show as a distraction whilst they attempt to kidnap Queen Brahnes' daughter, Garnet. The rest of the story is based around the aftermath of these events.
As usual in Final Fantasy games the main characters are an unlikely band of misfits that each share similar goals and ideals.
The main characters each have their own well portrayed story that helps you understand how they have gotten to where there are currently in the story, with keeps you compelled to play further into the game. Countless hours have been thrown at this game to do everything possible within, it takes a long time but it's worth it. The game is a spectacle of brilliance and is quite possibly the pinnacle of PSone games.
