Even in the wasteland you can do anything

User Rating: 9 | Fallout: New Vegas PS3

Fallout New Vegas is one of the greatest WRPGs of all time. I enjoy it because you can do anything and everything.

STORY

You are a courier who found out that the game was rigged all along. Now you must get revenge on those gentlemen that killed you in the Mojave desert by going back to New Vegas.

On the way you will see many quirky characters, anomalies, robots, betrayals, and join many gangs.

GAMEPLAY

I love Fallout New Vegas as it feels like an original Fallout game but in 3D graphics and gameplay.

You can do anything in New Vegas. You can shoot, walk, fight, gamble, have sex, do drugs, drink, and anything goes.

You have alignment.

RPG elements are good. You can upgrade your character and get perks.

The world of Fallout New Vegas feels as alive as it is radiated.

The combat in this game is really bad though as well as the walking. Nothing feels more rigid and dated than Fallout New Vegas. You die quick, turning is slow, accuracy is often poor, controls are light, and it's just not a good. The game feels as dated as the first System Shock and I'm pretty sure this is inspired by it deep down. But you can be strategic at that as Melee isn't so bad.

You can talk to people. NPC's are varied in personality.

You have a karma system that determines your alignment. The lower you go the poorer choice of words.

You can even repair things!

Gain experience.

Different Fractions to join be it good or bad.

FONV is where you can get creative and survive at the same time.

Scary dungeons are about as you go through the abandoned world of Nevada and California.

The AI in this game is rather Robotic as they kind of stand there yelling blurbs not being aware of their environment.

Glitches infest FONV. You will see physical things fall and enemies acting straight dumb.

You can wear different cloths that determine your fashion and function.

GRAPHICS

The graphics are some of the worst on next gen platforms. For one, there are no shadows, the textures are rather low res and drab, the animations are very poor, and all the character models have this lifeless uncanny look to them straight out of an early 90's CG animation. But I do enjoy the 50's colorful art deco art style but yeah, this isn't going to defeat Killzone 2.

SOUND

The sound in Fallout New Vegas is amazing. You have some very memorable dialogue.

There OST in FONV is very 50's.

OVERALL

Fallout New Vegas is a fun memorable game. A return to form in 3D.
