NOT a simulation; hardcore F1 fans stay away. Wish Image Space Incorporated had been given the license.

From the moment it was announced that Codemasters were given the license to F1, I had my misgivings. They have never produced a real simulation oriented game, even Grid was too arcadish. However I was caught up in the hype of the pre-release videos and especially given the fact that Anthony Davidson, one-time F1 driver and generally smart guy, was on board to help ensure the game would be close to the F1 experience.

Having played the game now, it seems to me that Anthony's role was more to make trailer videos than provide actual input, especially for the driving. F1 2010 absolutely sucks in the driving department. The cars are way too easy to drive, and it's not even close to real simulations like rFactor for driving realism.

One of the worst transgressions of the game is how straying off the track, even slightly, makes your lap invalid, even though the off-track excursion cost you laptime. This is a major annoyance during qualifying and ghost lap sessions.

Image Space Incorporated made some excellent F1 sims until the F1 license was taken away from them in 2003. I have no doubt that had they been tasked with creating a modern F1 game, their ouput would have been far far better than the drek produced by Codemaster. Even the graphics are not that impressive in F1 2010, with bland tracks and a lack of really cool lighting and shader effects off the cars. Need for Speed Shift, which came a YEAR before this game, does a much better job with graphics, with far more detailed and beautiful tracks, and hell even that game has better simulation racing than F1 2010.... something of a shocker since NFS games were never sim oriented

As an F1 fan, I wish that the old man Bernie would just go away. He is destroying it with the crappy new tracks and persistently denying F1 fans good F1 gaming.

Now all I can say is bring on rFactor 2 and CTDP 2009!
