The entire multiplayer part of the retail F.E.A.R. game, completely free for download by anyone.
That means you can have all of the great graphics and sound of F.E.A.R. (if your computer can take it, mine can't) and the fun multiplayer without having to pay a dime or do anything beyond clicking the Download button.
At first, I thought sixteen players wouldn't be enough to make a good multiplayer game, but I was wrong. Sixteen players can easily fill up the well-designed levels with tons of intense action. On a full server, the action is everywhere.
I guess there's not much else to say. It's free, and it's great. It's the greatest free once-upon-a-retail FPS multiplayer since Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Well, maybe not as great as Enemy Territory, but it's still really fun.
People who bought the retail version of F.E.A.R. are able to play with people using the free F.E.A.R. Combat, and vice versa. Because the multiplayer is now free, the retail F.E.A.R. multiplayer, which was at first sparsely populated, is now filled up with players.
So, those who own the retail game can now enjoy the multiplayer with more players than before, and those who don't own the retail game can now play the multiplayer without doing anything!
