For any fan of the movie, this game will be entertaining.

User Rating: 7.7 | Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick PS2
I have always liked the Army of Darkness and Evil Dead movies, even though they are kind of old and cheesy. I always thought it would be cool to have a game about the movie. When they amde that first game for the Playstation, it was an ok game, but the gameplay was really hard and repetitive. When I picked up the new Evil Dead: A fistful of boomstick, I thought it was actually pretty good. Sure the gameplay was a little repetitive, but as you go on, it gets a lot more fun. Later in the game, you travel back in time and you get to go to the Civil War. it is pretty cool how they recreated the whole city to look old. I thought it was cool how you had to go back and forth from the Union to the Confederate armies to get them to form together to defeat the deadites. After a while of playing, it seems boring, but when you get to the second stage, the game is so much better.
The puzzles are harder and more fun, and you can get new weapons.

The cutscene graphics were amazing in this game. It looked like something that could have been done on the xbox or the Gamecube. The in-gamne graphics were ok, but some of the environments seemed kind of plain. There is a lot of blood in this game too. It looks pretty good, but if they just made the graphics a little better, the game might have been more appealing to some people.

The sound in this game was also very good. They had the voice of Bruce Campbell who played the original Ash in Evil Dead and the Army of Darkness. The weapon sounds were ok, but they could have been more realistic. You can also say 5 different phrases to the zombies while you kill them, and I thought that was pretty cool.

Overall, this game was fun. I think that Gamespot is rating it based on their reactions to the first level. If you rated this game on the 2nd level and up, it would get a much better rating. Game Informer Magazine gave it a 7.75, and I thought that was appropriate for this game.
