if you have a ps2 and like brain teasers, you have to play this game

User Rating: 9.4 | Escape from Monkey Island PS2
Anyone familiar with this series knows that it is the 4th game in it. for me it was the first (unless you count watching someone else playing 1 & 2 when you're too young to). of course, after playing this, i felt inclined to go back and play 1, 2 & 3.
the gameplay in itself is solving very hard and VERY funny puzzles *spoiler*(like stealing termites from a termite circus because whoever owned the circus couldn't get fleas!) *end*. using every last brain cell can help you out with some of these, but a few of them a somewhat easy : *spoiler* (such as inputing things obviously given to you on a manhole cover)*end*. In the end, depending on how fast you can solve these puzzles (there is no time limit) will determine how much fun you personally find the game, of course the humor should keep you playing (yay mechanical menacing manatee!)
this is the first MI to move into 3D. fixed camera angles however, do cause minor problems, but they are there.
thhe sound is good, nothing special, it mostly comes from sound effects themselves, as there isn't as much music, but all the music does fit nicely and you'll know a cannonball was fired at you or that theres a swordfight.
the value of this game depends on how much of it you play. with puzzle games though, you may remember the puzzles for quite some time after solving them (especially the harder ones), limiting the replayability, but the humor is always funny, with references being made to past monkey island or lucas arts adventure games (such as LOOM or grim Fandango)
overall, its a great game that anyone who used to play MI, Day of the Tentacle, LOOM, Grim Fandango or anyother point and click adventure enthusiasts should enjoy thourughly. considering it can be easily found for under $16 at game stores, its worth a play
