Nothing you haven't seen in games before but still worth playing.

User Rating: 8 | Enslaved: Odyssey to the West PS3
Enslaved is one of those games that released in late 2010 and got unnoticed because of all the big boys coming out. Sales proved this also and when many did play it the game is solid but not spectacluar.

Story

You play as a person called onkey who is half man half monkey and he has to get back to his own land with the help of Tali who also needs help as well.

Gameplay

Enslaved resembles alot of games but probably Uncharted more than any, with its climbing mechanics. Unlike Uncharted you can't jump onto everything and sometimes the game can get a bit annoying because it can be hard to know where to jump. You will mostly jump across poles and down certain red boxes.

Also the enemies you will mainly face are mechs which are either shielded, normal, or have some sort of fancy weapon on them. Some can call for reinforcements. To combat them you have to use your Staff as well as a Stun Attack you get and a Plasma Attack to aid you. The combat also is pretty basic what you have seen in other games.

You do have currency and its tech orbs and they are for upgrading your health, moves and shield. Tali who helps you during this adventure upgrades your stuff for you. She can also distract enemies with a decoy, use certain objects and even give you hints. Although you have like a helmet on your head and if you go to far away from her it will activate and kill you. Annoying indeed.

There is different types of gameplay like climbing, combat, puzzles so its got a bit of vareity in there so its not just doing the same thing over and over.

Presentation

The enviroments look nice and detailed and certain feel like nature and the musical score isn't half bad either but the voice acting is a bit iffy.

Lastability

It's about a 6 to 8 hour game with nothing really to go back for.

Overall Opinion

Over Enslaved is probably one of those games you will pick up play it once and complete it then never play it again. Reason being its to short and lacks something new that hasn't already been seen before. Though if you want something different then give it a look.

Overall Score 7.9
