Dying Light - Basically a Dead Island Sequel

User Rating: 9 | Dying Light XONE

If you're a fan of Zombie games then there's no reason not to like Dying Light especially if you are a fan of Dead Island as Dying Light could be mistaken for a sequel and seeing as Dead Island 3 isn't coming out any time soon (if ever) Dying Light will satisfy all your Zombie killing need and then some.

Dying light is basically Dead Island with it's weapon crafting system plus open world but with additions like Parkour, though there are firearms in Dying Light there's less emphasis on them as you cannot upgrade them like the melee weapons and when used you could find yourself fighting off more Zombies than you can handle. Nights are also far more dangerous in Dying Light and would best be avoided at a low levels, though at higher levels the dangers are significantly reduce to almost non-existent which to me kind of spoils the fun, I remember the first time night came, I got caught out as I was finishing up a quest when all of a sudden about 5 or 6 Volatiles (fast, powerful and relentless zombies that only come out at night) started chasing me through the city and I barely made it to safety, though terrifying it was also fun.

Similarities to Dead Island aside Dying Light is a great game with decent graphics, intuitive game mechanics and a compelling story. If I had to say one reason not to get this game I would have to say “do you have friends to play with”. Dying Light is 10x better with just one friend playing it with you, so I'm sure to would be 30x better with three.

The one thing that stands out to me as the best thing about Dying Light I discovered when I first got my hand on a Katana, there I was leisurely killing Zombies when all of a sudden I sliced one in half vertically right down the middle, needless to say I continued to do so for the next hour at least. So if you like slicing things in half from hand to groin then this is definitely the game for you.
