Massive letdown if you liked the first two.

I was a fan of the first two, in particularly the second. While no where as good as diablo 2 at the time, I still really enjoyed playing through the games and did so multiple times.

Dungeon Siege 3 however, is a huge letdown. I was excited to hear about it when it was first announced, but as soon as you play it you realize its nothing to get excited about.

The games graphics are passable, i didnt find them particularly impressive, nor did I find them dissapointing. The sound effects and musics were much the same.

What has changed most in this incarnation is the combat, its flashy sure but, its just not very fun in my opinion. I have to admit I only played as the warrior guy so i cant comment on the others but the warrior was very boring. Instead of a true hack n slash, he sort of chains together attack moves and it just doesnt feel like a hack n slash game. The camera is horrible, you cant see much of anything around you, just all of a sudden a bunch of enemies appear and you kill em.

The inventory is horrible too, why they decided to do away with the tried and trued inventory seen in pretty much all action RPG's i dont know, instead you go from tab to tab to tab each containing armor or weapon types, instead of the good old screen with everything and then an outline of your character that you can drag various items to the various parts of the characters body, really takes the fun out of any looting when its just that much more of a pain to find your new loot and use it.

The controls, are undeniably tailored for the console market and as such played massively better with a xbox 360 controller on the pc, rather than keyboard and mouse. The keyboard and mouse just....felt wrong with this game another bummer.

I think this game suffers alot from the same fate that Arcania Gothic 4 did. People played these two games expecting what they knew and loved because they were named such, however you soon find out its a totally different experience, and as such you cant help but feel a bit jaded and ripped off. If Dungeon Siege 3 had gone under a totally different name and I had no preconceived notions of what i was going to get, I might have enjoyed it for what it is, a playable mildly entertaining console port of a game that waters down a dungeon crawling loot fest to make it more appealing for console gamers. At 50 bux I can honestly say it is not worth it. If it were 20 bux id say go for it.
