While the game itself is very simple, it provided lots of fun.

User Rating: 8.2 | Duck Hunt NES
Using a lightgun to shoot virtual ducks on your TV screen, what's funner than that? Back in the day, not much was. For it's time, Duck Hunt was a great game. There was no story, no missions, and no characters. Just you, the ducks, and that god awful dog. The game is pretty simple. Ducks would fly across the screen, and you had to shoot them before they reached the other side of your TV. If they did get to the other side, you would lose lives in the form of duck icons. When all your duck icons were gone, you lost the game. As you progressed farther into the game, the ducks would become harder to shoot. People now are rating the game really low, which I don't think is fair. When the game first released, it was pretty exciting. It's ludicrous to compare this game to anything made nowadays. The good thing about this game not having a storyline, is you could just sit down and play it whenever you felt like it, for however long you felt like playing it. You didn't have to play for hours on end. It was just a fun way to pass time. Even today, this game is still pretty fun when you take 20 minutes or so and just play it though. I have to admit, the graphics, sound, and AI were not good at all, but the game had good gameplay. It's a good way to play a game without just using the controller. Which makes the games value really good. Since this game had unique traits back when game ideas were very limited, I think this game is great.
