DBZ: shin budokai is a stylish and beginner friendly fighter for the psp.

User Rating: 8.5 | Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai PSP

The gameplay 8/10
Now if you have never played a Dragon ball Z game yet then shin budokai might take a little getting use to. For starters unlike any other fighter out there DBZ is not all about punches and kicks instead it's about energy beams. If your a fan of the legendary show then you know all about why these guys with the huge and/or spiky hair can pull off these huge beam attacks, but if you aren't don't worry the story in the game explains all. But aside from that DBZ:shin budokai is a pretty basic fighting game and a very easy one at that since the Ai early on is very poor but sure enough it gets a bit harder as the game go's on. The controls are slick and easy to learn so if your worried about not being able to pull off your kameahmehaa don't cause its a no brainer.

The graphics 9/10
The look off the game is simply gorgeous from the crisp anime character models to the superb background settings. but there is just one catch though the models look great they never move there mouths when speaking (not that there's much talking) its more of a slight annoyance then a true problem but its an annoyance none the less.

The sound 8/10
There is barely any voice work but the music and sound effects keep this game from being a practical let down in the sound department.

The value 7/10
Now the value is a bit of a problem to the games quest mode is very short (around 2 to 4 hours) and getting all the characters takes little to no effort since all you have to do is beat every challenge in the quest mode(simply fight everyone) but there is an arcade mode and a few other modes to give this game a little more bang for the buck. If you decide to buy the game i would say look for a used copy (20.00) and i am sure you will be satisfied.

The good
Superb anime graphics,BIG BEAM ATACKS !!!,dudes with huge hair,The games roster is impressive for a portable game.

The bad
The game is way too easy for vets of the series, not enough story both in plot and length. the characters don't move there mouths.
