Rhythm games are becoming more common by the hour. Most games follow the already famous Dance Dance Revolution formula, just few of those games try to create its own style, that's why Donkey Konga is such a remarkable game.

The game is quite simple yet addictive, you can use either the Bongos that come with the game or your controller, of course by using the latter the game won't be so thrilling and enjoyable. There are 4 different kinds of notes, you can hit the left bongo, the right one, both at the same time and also clap your hands.

The Bongo is really responsive to your actions and you will seldom be mad because it didn't work when you were playing the hardest songs, sometimes it happens specially when you have to clap your hands, but it isn't so often.

Many different modes are featured on this game. The main mode has 30 songs, each one of them is presented on three different levels, one harder then the other, as you manage to clear a song you will earn coins which will allow you to buy many different extras at DK town, you can buy songs for the hardest level, different Bongo sounds and some Mini-Games.

There is also a mode where the notes are not displayed on the screen you actually have to memorize all of the song's notes before playing this mode which is the most challenging of the game. The challenge mode provides an array of songs that will be played by you and other friends, you will compete to see who is capable of clearing more songs in a row.

Playing Donkey Konga all by yourself is great but the true magic of the game lies on the multiplayer, you and your friends will have a great time battling. Unfortunately the game only comes with one Bongo therefore to really enjoy the game you will probably have to buy another set.

As you would expect from a game like that the graphics are not good, only three characters appear on the screen while you are playing and they don't look good at all, the background isn't impressive actually it is quite ugly. But in a game like this it isn't important. The characteristic that matters the most is the sound.

Unfortunately I can't say that all songs that have been picked to this game are good, there are some weird choices, the songs which I believe are the best are the ones featured in Nintendo's biggest franchises, but there are only 4 of them, you will be able to play the DK Rap, Zelda Theme, Mario Bros Theme and a Pokémon song. Of course there are other great music, but I wish Nintendo had put some more game songs, like Super Mario Bros 2 theme and some Donkey Kong Country songs.

The replay value is great, you will play a lot until you get all the unlockables, and get sick of the songs. If play it with friends the game will last longer.

So, Donkey Konga is a solid gaming experience and any kind of gamer will be able to play it for many days, the biggest problem of the game is the lack of more famous songs that would add a lot to the game, but the overall package is impressive.
