Rare makes the finishing port on the GBA series with similar problems as the past two...

User Rating: 8.3 | Donkey Kong Country 3 GBA
Donkey Country 3 is a port to Donkey Kong Country 3 on the SNES and having played the SNES version im a bit disapointed. They changed the music from the original game to some crappy music that does not fit with some of the levels. For example, there is a level where you must climb a tree and out run the saw thats cutting the tree down (or up figuring the saw is going up), the music for this level is cheerful happy music, as if there was no saw. The original game had suspenseful music that made you really realize that the saw is there. They also made the game easier than the original version by allowing you to sav anywhere, this problem wasnt fixed, it was in the two previous ports as well. Aside from that the gameplay is just as good as ever with the graphics toned down a bit for the GBA release. Another new niffty feature is the cheat menu which obviously allows you to cheat. The cheats can make the game harder or easier depending on the codes you input. Those who played the original will know what they are in for, fun levels and decently lengthed, but players of the original may be happier or dispointed that the game is easier then the SNES version. The only upside to its original is a new world that Rare put in called pacifica, which is a great added bonus. There is also a new boss so fans of the original may want to check this out for the new levels and the new boss. Overall the game is a downgraded version of the original and tries its hardest to hide that with the new levels. DK3 was a great game on SNES but the GBA version cant live up to its legacy if you call it that.
