Good to kill time but it lacks many things! The ones that played the Wii version probably understand me.All i ask is WHY?

Readthe last paragraph is you do not feel like going through my nagging and yapping.

I will not say much about this except.. WHY?!?!?! My love for the Dokapon board game started with Dokapon Kingdom on Wii. The game is a mix of a classic board game with many RPG elements and high levels or frustration. I did indeed play this ones for many hours but I have to say one thing about it.. WHY?! F-ing why?

Dokapon Journey came after Kingdom so I was expecting for it to be better with more features and such. I am not talking about the graphics that when from anime-ish 3D to medium quality 2D. I care less if the sound is worse too. Thats to be expected since Dokapon Kingdom might have went well but it didn't explode into fame makign the company rich, so the expectations were low. But at least I was expecting some new features in the game that would capture the player and make him want to play even more through the bazillion of battles and the random fetch it or kill it quests.

But no.. they first and foremost removed the ability to change classes. Instead now you have 8 different classes that are gender locked and are 4 for males and 4 for females and they every 2 resemble each other as a class ( for example Male is Mage and female is Witch for the magician class). Why game WHY? In Kingdom you started with just 3 classes instead of 4 but you could change between classes at any time, level the classes to unlock classes and after you got new classes you could level them and do some special events and unlock even more and mean classes AND again you could change between any class! So why take such an awesome feature and throw it in the trash.. WHY!?

Secondly a lot of "sidequests" that existed in the Kingdom were removed. Ok they were not really sidequests but for example you could go in dungeon-caves and find special items needed to unlock classes or even get some items that were hide. Heck many times I would ignore the game and visit caves to look around. In journey except when the king decides to give some chores that force me to visit them I do not even count them as part of the board.

Another thing to say is that in Kingdom when you would finish a quest given by the king he would gift you one of the castle that were scattered through the board. Now he just hands you some gold. Actually even if he handed you a lot of gold it would still be useless. In dokapon money come and go very easily. A castle could not be stollen or taken by the random rock paper scissors person! Only by darklord if he had enough points. So why you did not add the castles eh? WHY WHY?!?!

Also now that I mentioned the darklord (or however is called the player that becomes randomly uber powerful and kicks everyone butt). Ok I have to admit now the dark lord is kind-ish easier. In Kingdom the darklord would collect points and if he would gather enough he could turn the game upside down like taking away one of castles off other players for keeps, or summoning each and every player to him and kicking his but stripping him off o everything .. or even spawning monsters to every single town leaving everyone with nothing. I assume they removed those powers because they turned the game upside down and the frustration meter would go into the red.. but damn he had some abilities that would harm the others but were not all that destructive. At least leave us some powers to either enjoy when we use or swear when they fall upon us.

Well after letting that out I have to admit that Dokapon Journey is not all that bad. The Dokapon board game series is the only board games I know that offer you a huge gameboard that you can run around and try to take as much as you can while same item you can feel like your playing an RPG. I gave it a 6 because its minus 1 point for being a downgrade of the older Dokapon Kingdom and I mean in gameplay and not in graphics or sound. A minus 1 for failing to deliver something that would make the player want to explore the huge map and especially the caves-dungeons. Another minus 1 because they killed the class system and the last minus 1 because they did not deliver nothing new or at least refreshed.. now that i think about it they removed things so I will give it another min... nah that ok.

So if you want to play a board game and especially if you have a friend to play with and you both hand nothing better to do this game will eat away your time without even you realizing it. Dokapon games.. everyone loves and hates them!
