A great beat em up that you shouldn't be ignored just because of a change of hair style.

Actual Grade 8.5

I'll be honest I've never played any previous installments in this series, The only reason I was interested in this game was because it was free on PS Plus. I've heard a lot of bad things with this game and not because of the gameplay but because they completely changed Dante from the previous installments one of the huge complaints was that they changed his hair First off I just want to say is this the best we can complain about a characters change of hair? come on can nitpicking get any worse? Look I get it this character is special to you and you don't won't Capcom to change him and that's completely understandable however, this is supposed to be a completely new version of Devil May Cry so I think Capcom should have the rights to have their own creative control to change him up a little bit if they want. I could understand if they completely changed him in a sequel but the big point to this is that this is a different take on him and the point I'm trying to get across is that this argument is just pointless.

Story: This is one of those stories I hate explaining because their is so much to it and it would take paragraphs, and paragraphs to explain so I'm just going to talk about how I felt about it. I like the story, for the most part, most of the characters in the game are believable and Dante's love interest get interesting when he's stuck in limbo and shes not and shes being captured. Their our some great moments in the story, but their our also is a lot of filler, the ending did have a cool twist to it and I will explain that later.

Presentation: When it comes to this games graphical score nothing really completely stands out it's pretty average when it comes to this games actual looks, but I will say that when you enter Limbo in this game it always makes this games looks show off, its a very interesting look to this game and I really liked what they did with it. The soundtrack that plays is really only catering to one person and that's screamo fans, and seriously that's all that plays in combat, look I get it that's the audience they are trying to cater too, but it's a little disappointing, that and they do tone the music down so I guess I'm not complaining. The presentation isn't anything special but it's not bad.

Gameplay:The gameplay has quite some depth to it. As you progress you will find tons of new weapons that will help you quite a bit during your journey, a lot of these weapons do tons of different things and are just nice to have. When it comes to the combat in this game there is a steep learning curve, their our tons of combos and you will definitely have to play this game a second time to learn most of them, it's nice to have these and makes the combat a joy to play. This game plays out from stage, to stage, I do like this mechanic because while the flow of the game is paused multiple times, I still like to see how I am progressing. As you progress through each level you will come across boss battles, I have to say that this installment of DMC has some of the most creative boss battles I have ever seen, and they are a lot of fun to play, they can also be quite a challenge to fight also. I think what makes the gameplay so great for me is that Ninja Theory was able to mix so many options to not only use in combat but to progress through the game and was able make them feel fun to use rather than tedious as they could of been, and for me that's what makes the gameplay so great.

(Spoiler Alert)The final boss is Mundus he's a great boss and a joy to play but after defeating him you learn that its not over, it appears that Vergil wants to rule humanity, Dante does not agree with this and has to fight his own brother Dante nearly kills Vergil but Kat begs him to stop Dante does what she says and Vergil leaves promising him that this isn't over. I really liked the ending because throughout the game Vergil was a dark character and I always questioned what his true motivation was, seeing the ending I wasn't completely surprised but it definitely made sense. The ending was pretty good.

Overall DMC in my opinion is a game worth playing it's a very deep beat em up that I think anybody could enjoy and I really enjoy the mix of combat and platforming, if you are interested in the series this one is definitely worth checking out.
