Decent racing game.

Received the game for free with ps plus. The career mode was just about the right length and had enough different types of races to not get overly repetitive. I mostly liked the point a to b races and the path finder ones. I didn't like the giant spoiler car ones so much and found one of them to be the hardest career event in the game. I played every event on normal difficulty except for that one, where I could lock in 4th place , but the first 3 cars were just too far ahead to catch up with, so after like 30 attempts I just put it on very easy and beat it first try The commentary/ narration is okay but some of the jokes were just not funny and the voice got overly totally stoked bruh mode and really annoying. A lot of the cars are locked behind dlc which is understandable but still annoying. The track editor is fun but feels more like track mania than dirt. The custom tracks feel more like obstacle courses than races Some of the tunes are okay but I find a couple of them so annoying it makes me want to play the game less. After about 15 hours of "nimma nimma nimma nimma nuh , a nimma nimma nimma nimma nimma nimma nuh" I ended up muting the audio and just listening to podcasts on Spotify while playing. The physics of the cars feel great and drifting feels smooth.i liked the weather effects particularly when it would get dark and gloomy but the lightning flashes were near blinding in my dark room. Most races I could lock in first after just a few attempts on normal difficulty but a handful I settles for second or third place. The difficulty seemed to kind of bounce around alot, with the hardest race being fairly early on actually. Rather than in previous dirt games where you didn't have a mini map but a progress bar, were gifted a minimal for most races where it is appropriate and it functions well enough. We don't get the call outs from the partner in the car with you like in previous dirt games but it's understandable since this once abandons the strict rally type race for a mix up of different racing styles. I didn't get a chance to play split screen but I assume it would be fun. The online mode is alright but loading took a little too long between matches, but wasn't terrible. The trophies were relatively easy, the most skill based one would be to get 30,000 style points in a gymkhana event, which took me like 20-30 tries. Other than that the trophy for driving 1000 miles is the most grindy, as after the career I only had about 500 total miles driven. The graphics for the most part are good but the racers names flickering in and out can be a bit distracting. The biggest disappointments are just that so many vehicles are dlc. The sub par soundtrack. And that the track builder only really lets you build obstacle course like tracks and not more racy racing races. Still fun.
