The only game that manages to kick you in the nads repeatedly and make you want more

User Rating: 9.5 | Dark Souls PS3
I was a huge fan of demon's souls because being a gamer all my life a challenging game was always welcome. Demon's souls managed to get the difficulty to be hard but not impossible. Dark souls has accomplished making this game nearly impossible... but just nearly.

So I don't need dwell much on the fact that Dark Souls puts a big god damn underline under "REALLY BLOODY HARD." Because thats pretty much common knowledge. But the reason we forgive Dark Souls for crushing our spirits into nothing but a depressing lump of dust is because of the overwhelming feeling of satisfaction you get once you traverse the obstacles Dark Souls puts in your way. I kid you not, I broke one of my controllers by throwing it on the ground as if it was a football after a touchdown once I had beaten a boss I was stuck on. Yes, when you struggle through a dungeon only to emerge on the other side beaten, bruised, bloody but alive; you feel more bad ass then Optimus prime riding Godzilla.

So yeah, the game is hard but the reward is worth it; but this game is also reeeaaaallly pretty to look at. If you want the picture perfect image of a ruined, yet beautiful fantasy landscape then lucky for you Dark Souls more then provides it. Each new location is unique and equally as stunning as the one before it.

The online is basically the same as Demon's Souls, you summon people they someone you, a jerk occasionally decides to ruin your day and invade you. But if it isn't broken don't fix it right?

At the end of the day Dark Souls stands proudly at the top of my favorite RPG's. Its not a game for the faint of heart but for those with enough courage to stand up and take it like a champ; Dark Souls will provide you with an experience that will stay with you for a long while after the credits roll.
