Dante's Inferno borrows from other games like many other action games but I fell like it dosen't have its own identity.

User Rating: 7 | Dante's Inferno: Shinkyoku Jigoku-Hen X360
Story: The story is about Dante, who returns home from the Crusades only to find that his Wife Beatrice has been damned to Hell, so Dante embarks on a epic journey into the nine rings of hell to get her back. The story is simple and nothing really great, what I just wrote is basically the whole premise for the game. Dante just plunges into Hell and fights off the minions of Satan. Bottom line the story is really kind of boring and, while not terrible in any means, is just kind of there.

Graphics: The graphics are probably the strongest point of the game, the design for the monsters and the environments themselves are well thought out and look really messed up like Hell should be and trust me you will see some messed up stuff. The effects mostly look good like the magic attacks look nice and the set pieces are awesome. Now what isn't good about the graphics is that the raw power of the graphics isn't the best, the fire dosen't look great and some of the textures look pretty dirty. But the game does have good voice acting so the graphics are probably the best part of the game.

Gameplay: The gameplay is split up into a couple of sections: there is the combat, platforming and puzzle solving. The combat does take a lot from God of War but I can accept that. The combat works and at times feels really fun and intense as you rip any enemy in half. You can also upgrade your weapons with experience points and you can buy new combos that are cool. Now the best part of the combat is that some of the bosses are epic and are a blast to fight and you will feel awesome when you take one down. Now the bad part of the combat is that there are only about seven or eight different types of enemies in the entire game which is pretty bad, also while the bosses are fun to fight there are not enough and some of them kind of suck. Also the combat can feel repetitive and not to mention you only get two weapons and four magic attacks (one of them is useless by the way). Now the puzzles are standard, they are not too hard and are just meant to break up the action. The platforming is like Castlevania, it works but it is nothing great. Bottom line I did have fun at times but for a lot of the time I did have that feeling of "Been there, done that." Plus there are better action games out there

The Verdict/Final score

Story 6: Kind of boring and really has nothing going for it but some parts I will say are well done like the animated flash backs.

Graphics 8.5: The monsters and the environments all look nice and messed up like they should but the raw power is not the best.

Gameplay 6.5: Everything works and nothing is broken but with only seven or eight types of enemies and only two weapons you might get tired quickly. However the game does have some awesome bosses.

Enjoyment 7: I did have fun at times but the fun wore out after a while and the game is only about eight hours and this game could have been so much more.

Final score: 7
