A lot of fun that will keep you on your toes

This game was the reason my wife and I decided to purchase an Xbox. Our kids have had a lot of fun at their cousin's house playing DDR on their PS2 system.

This game has a lot of great features, and a very extensive song list. Variable levels of difficulty will allow you to advance to the next level, although I have decided to stick with the beginner level because of my natural inability to move my 260 pound frame easily. Smaller children may have problems keeping up with the game due to the overall size of most dance pads (being that their legs might not be long enough to reach the up and down pads at the same time), but overall there should not be any issues even with most younger children.

The songs included on the game disk have a varied collection of music types, including jazz, hip-hop, rock, and a few ballads (for the slower ones like me). And the organization of the song choices are laid out very clearly, as it becomes quite easy to cycle through the songs looking for either a 200 beats per minute (bpm), or a slower 45 bpm. The game also includes an excellent "grading" scale that grades your performance, and then leaves that highest grade acheived displayed with that song. That way, you can track your progress and know which songs you have conquered, and which songs still have you puffing for air.

The graphics are standard for any sort of dance game, but it very similar to the "psychedelic" ones that are seen in arcades. There is always a dancer or two in the background gyrating along with the song, and the arrows are clear and easy to see regardless of the TV size.

The game also features a "workout mode", which although I have not tried, I am sure that it will keep your heart pumping and your legs jumping in an effort to get some exercise. I would not necessarily reccomend that this be a replacement for your local gym, but it will supply an adequate aerobic workout on some of the longer sessions.

Overall, this is a wonderful choice for any age gamer, and can be enjoyed by everyone in the family.
