An excellent shooter, but not the flawless jewel most claim it to be.

Crysis came out over four years ago and it is still one of the best looking games on the market. The photorealism of its environments are just unparallel with any other game out there. If you have a good computer that can run it at high settings smoothly, it is a wonderful experience to behold. The gameplay is excellent as well, but there are many aspects that hold this game back.

The story is mediocre and predictable, but I guess you would expect that from a sci-fi shooter like this. Most of the characters are shallow and aren't developed much. But the story is good enough for a game like this.

The game play is what sets this game apart from the rest. The freedom to tackle a level any way you want to. Do you prefer to run into a Korean base guns blazing or a stealth infiltration? Or what about blowing a tower up as a distraction and slipping in that back? All of these and more are viable options in this game all thanks to the suit powers. This adds a nice replay value to the game as you can go back and redo missions a different way.

The graphics are well… It's Crysis come on now you've probably heard about the graphics a million times already. The environments are richly textured, draw distances are huge, and lighting affects are top notch. One area I think they messed up on however is the character models. To me they look and move like tight plastic dolls.

Sound is not up to par with the graphics unfortunately. The guns do not sound as powerful as they should and the musical score is nothing special. I also believe that there should be an option to turn on the enemy Korean language for all difficulties not just the hardest one.

The AI is really great. If someone thinks they see you or hear something a group of them will check that area out. However I found it annoying that for whatever reason helicopters could see you stealthed really easily. That made for some annoying missions.

I thought the end boss was disappointing and very cheesy. It just didn't do it for me.

Thankfully the campaign is decently long. It will take you over 10 hours to complete the campaign which is nice as most single player shooters nowadays take 7 or less hours.

Crysis is a great sci-fi shooter that provides a truly breathtaking experience at times. However it does have its annoyances that pull it back from being a truly amazing game. Every PC game enthusiast and shooter fan should play this game.
