Years of delays for this?

User Rating: 3 | Crackdown 3 XONE

PersAfter years and years of waiting, Crackdown 3 has finally been released and it's about as good as everyone expected it to be. Not very.

Crackdown 3 suffers from some very outdated graphics that remind me far too much of Saints Row 4, a game that came out 6 years ago. Not to say that it doesn't lack polish. I have had little issues with bugs and my only problem would be the occasional bit of lag, Especially if there is a lot going on onscreen. The game just looks dated, stale even. The environments lack creativity and are all pretty bland looking. And that's the worst thing you could possibly want for an open-world game.

On top of that, We are dealt with a pretty straightforward and unoriginal story along with plenty of repetitive and boring objectives that are required to be beaten in order to face mini-bosses, which lead you to the big boss at the end. These objectives include freeing prisoners, destroying fuel tanks and mining equipment and things of that nature. It's a small list of objectives but having to do them over and over again in such a short amount of time just ruins things for me.

And it certainly doesn't help that there really isn't anything to do or buy. You simply kill enemies, Beat missions and level up. That's it. You can collect orbs to help level up skills faster, which is a plus, but I don't really go out of my way to do it. If the orbs are in the immediate area I am in, I have no issue grabbing them but I am not going to explore every inch of the map for them. Especially when it won't take much to get to the end game. As of writing this, I am currently about 4 hours into the game and have already beaten 3 mini-bosses and am on my way to a fourth. So yeah, The campaign is a pretty brief experience, Especially if you are skilled at shooters.

Now the multiplayer, which is oddly enough created as its own separate thing, can be somewhat fun. I mean, It's nothing to get too excited about nor does it make the game worth buying to play for but it's not bad. There is also a co-op campaign as well, which helps alleviate the repetitiveness a bit but not by much. It just makes it easier to grind out.

Overall: 3/10
Crackdown 3 feels like a game that should have been put out years ago. I find no reason for them to keep delaying it considering there is really nothing special going on with it. Thankfully, I had game pass so I didn't waste $60 for it and I plan on cancelling the membership soon considering I only got it for CD3 and it was a total and utter let down.

I mean really, After all these years this is the best this development team could come up with? I knew it would be pretty mediocre but I didn't expect it to be this bad. Honestly, Don't bother. Go pick up a cheap copy of Saints Row 4 and play that since it's virtually the same game.
