If you liked the first one (like I did), you will still like this one, but probably not as much (like I didn't). This squad based game is still a lot of fun to me to play, and it is a step up technically from the first game as far as how the controls handle and the over-all look and feel. But it's a step backwards as far as game-play and level design from the first game. Instead of the large detailed levels of the first game, there are small close-in city levels that unfortunatly emphasis the game engines weaknesses and poor control (even though they are a step up from the first game). In fact the whole game seems very rushed; the cut-scenes before the missions were shorter than the first game, the post-mission debriefing was almost non-existant (and no voice-over), and they level designs themselves are just BLAH and uninteresting and small. The first game had a good story, good mission briefing and clear and logical mission objectives, and a really cool mission debriefing after, and this new game has none of those. A very detached and thrown together feeling here. And one HUGE backwards step from the first game - they have included respawning enemies, and I hate those. They are not even logical respawning enemies, they are TANKS and people popping up from totally enclosed areas that you just cleared out, even some popping up out of nowhere right in front of you like a ghost - and way too much reliance on scripted events - you know the kind where you take one step further and you trip an obvious trigger and a tank rolls out of nowhere. I know this makes the game artificially longer, but it just emphasised how weak the level designs are. And speaking of length - only 10 mission - VERY SHORT!!!! With a very weak ending that pops up out of nowhere. In summary - if you really, really liked the first game like I did, I can recommend it to you - but don't expect much, maybe just think of it as an add-on to the first game and you won't be too disappointed. But as a full priced $50 like I got it as - it's a tough call. But if you don't have the first game - get that one instead!
